Welcome to the Circle City...

SI did a nice job on this article. https://www.si.com/college/2021/03/18/hoosier-hysteria-to... Place is poppin.... a lot different than previous FFs here. Indiana SPorts Corp and NCAA have done a masterful job pulling this off so far. 9000 tests so far. 8 positives across all athletes, coaches, refs and travelling parties.

Russ has been doing his best Jim Nabors impressions on several snippets I have heard. Back home again....

Nobody does it like Jim unfortunately. Him doing that and Florence singing "God Bless America" were some of the best staples of the 500 every year. Hoping to get back up there this year but we'll see how the vaccine rollout progresses. Penske has made some major changes to the facility.

Looks like the track has had a major facelift. A shame they could not roll out last year. Everyone involved scranbled to make the race a success. I followed the logistics daily to see what they said and did. That said....they are really looking forward to putting it together this year.

I feel isolated up here in Muncie. Tommy and I attended downtown events surrounding the FF and Regionals here since the 90s but this year, even with all the games right here, seems do distant. Guys in town and can't hang with them. Russ and Rob close and no repartee.

The state and local news, papers and business' are going all out to host and make things safe. Some of downtown is still boarded up, burned and broken from this summmer's "peaceful protests" so it is probably better not to have hte normal influx of folks to the city. From what I see so far this tourney is doing well on all fronts.

Let's talk about the time the United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway killed Formula 1 in the US for a decade: https://youtu.be/Bl2n6FjuyPI

I got a friend like that....come in on the motorcycle and say "great day, sunshine and blue skies. Good ride to work" she says...."sposed to rain, hope you get home ok." Thanks for the reality check. U B U.

One of the many failures of the Tony George era. Both IMS and F1 deserve some blame for it, but man what a debacle.

That very race was my first in-person F1 grand prix. Watched it from the stands right across from start/finish. It sure was memorable.

I'll never forget the confusion after half the grid parked it following the reconnaissance lap. We thought the green wasn't real. Surely they just released them for another lap to let the rest of the field rejoin. How wrong we were.

Cool to say I witnessed history though.
