A fine schedule. Almost a true round robin except Toledo won't visit us and we won't visit Eastern Michigan. Miami on a January Tuesday is lame. Otherwise, four Saturday home games and a Friday home game with none during a student break. If we end up actually playing this with fans in the building, this is as fan-friendly of a conference schedule as we've ever had.

Playing the cynic, assuming we have fans in the stands, how many of those Saturday games end up on a Friday night with 10 days notice?

Cynicism aside, I'm hoping this comes to fruition and we all get to be in The Convo on 1/2/21.

It's easier to put a b-ball team in a bubble than other teams, so I expect that we'll able to play a few OOC games in December -- maybe at home with restrictions on attendance (if necessary in December) or maybe as part of a bubble somewhere -- and will be able to have some fans at MAC home games, at least in February. There's probably going to be a spike in cases on campus when the students come back in January but may be back down by February.

Anyway, it sure beats cardboard cutouts and recorded crowd noise.

So you're saying there are tickets available at Eastern Michigan?

Why not got to a full round-robin this year?

Would make sense, especially since they're cutting back on the number of teams in the tournament.

What is the percentage of capacity for indoor venues?

Where is EMU going to find 300 fans to attend?

Michigan allows only two guests for each athlete, with no other spectators allowed. That should allow EMU to have a sellout crowd at every home game.

Correct, 300 is currently a State of Ohio thing.

Do players, coaches, support staff, broadcast team, etc. count towards the 300? If so, I would imagine there won't be any general public if that sticks.

On top of that, since we depend so much on students for the technical production of the ESPN broadcasts (more than any other MAC school, since some of our December games are in the dark with students away), are our live broadcasts at risk with limited students on campus?

For nonconference games I heard that we are looking to play a quad tourney at Illinois on Nov 25. Wright State would also be there, not sure on the 4th team. We are also trying to schedule at Dayton. Would be a good test for our young team!

The March 8th games have been moved to December to avoid teams playing three games in one week before the conference tourney. We now play at Fiami on 12/29:

MAC Men’s Basketball Schedule Adjustments from March 8th, 2021:
Toledo at Eastern Michigan -- Friday, December 4, 2020
Buffalo at Bowling Green -- Sunday, December 6, 2020
Akron at Kent State -- Saturday, December 19, 2020
Central Michigan at Western Michigan -- Tuesday, December 22, 2020
Ball State at Northern Illinois -- Tuesday, December 29, 2020
Ohio at Miami -- Tuesday, December 29, 2020

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

Lots of conferences have changed their schedules to a back-to-back approach. Could/should the MAC reconsider this type of schedule?

https://twitter.com/GoodmanHoops/status/1325799666114568192

A dozen one-bid leagues have gone with the SMART approach of playing back-to-back days against same team at the same site:

America East
ASUN
Big Sky (same weekend)
Big South
Big West
CAA
C-USA
Horizon
MAAC
NEC (hasn’t announced yet)
Summit
WAC
