Just wondering if I have missed anything. With the 20/21 MAC Basketball schedule now released, has anyone heard anything about 20/21 Basketball Season Tickets and Bobcat Club PSR renewals?

FYI - I just got this email back from an Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Sales:

"You have not missed anything. We are evaluating our plan for basketball daily as it is going to look different this year than in previous years due to covid, the governor's rule on spectators at events and social distancing. You are actually on my list to call later this week to answer questions you may have over the phone. We do not have our plans set in stone right now as things are changing daily and we of course need to wait on the governor to lift his order in order for us to have fans at the Convo (which we are anticipating happens by basketball season). We hope to have our plans in place by early to mid-October."

Call received from OHIO athletics from an assistant to an assistant student AD in training using his cell phone with a caller ID indicating he's in upstate New York. Kind of the personal touch, if you ask me.

Got this email earlier in the week as part of a mass email blast:

GREAT NEWS! We have recently released our 2020-2021 tentative men's and women's basketball conference schedule. Hopefully a first step towards Lou once again saying “It is time to bring out the Bobcats!”

Over the last couple months, we have been working daily to make plans for a safe, fun and unique season for our student-athletes, staff and our fans. We will be reaching out by phone over the next week to connect with you and answer questions about some of the possibilities we are looking into for this season in regards to fans at our games. We may not have all the answers right now, but we commit to you that we will stay in touch and we plan on having our plans in place by mid-October if not sooner.

Thanks for your support of Ohio Basketball!

What won't you bitch about?

The caller is part of the staff we have, and they're working remotely.

Working remotely is not the issue. It's very easy to give a staff member a local (740) area code. Spammers do it all the time! ;-) That would have at least added just a little touch of class. I'm not bitching. I'm just making an observation. There is a lack of attention to detail in our AD's office that's been there for years. Unfortunately, it hasn't improved -- at least yet -- under the new regime. Admittedly, this is a very tough time to work in athletics, and I'm not discounting that. I was also trying to be just a little bit funny. I guess you missed that aspect of my post.

Not going to be much to hear until the governor lifts the 15% or 300 maximum, or the health department gives a waiver for size of crowd.

OCF makes a great point about cell phone exchanges. If I see a 740 exchange I'm much more likely to pick it up than one from out of state. We used to encourage all of our reps to get a number for the area in which they lived to increase their chances of getting a someone to pick up. It's sales 101.

I received a cell phone call from a Christan in the Athletics Dept. this week. What he said about basketball. O.U. will request a waiver from DeWine for 20% capacity for the Convo. That will be ~ 2600. IF that happens there will be NO season tickets. Those that have season tickets will be able to buy "gameday" tickets for each game in their section . But no guarantee - due to "social distancing" that you be able to sit in the same seat. Then he said "All subject to change". And also remember O.U. has a mask mandate. Also Athens has a mask "ordinance" complete with an administrative fine. ( Not enforced as of now. ) So if we get to watch a game in person - bring your mask.

It's another expense item on an athletic department budget. Trust me, better be able to show legitimate ROI on it or else it ain't happening. By all means, you could donate for them to have 740 numbers if it bothers you that much. Anything is easy, especially with money
