The longtime voice of Ohio football joins Lukas Moore to talk about the Bobcats upcoming bowl game, the great start to the Jeff Boals era, and as a native of Chicago, gives some thoughts on the city.

Will listen to this next time I am in the car. Who is the native of Chicago? Looks like a good ride, 44minutes. Russ has transformed OHIO media. From our first season with Warren Swain to present Russ always has great insight, interviews and paints a good pic with his action accounts in real time. I know there are a minority of folks who have a different view but as a consumer of games from local hs hoops as i pass through IN, IA,VA, WI, MI, IN to college games I get to listen to a wide spectrum of talent. Russ is pretty high on the list and we are fortunate to have kept him here. Looking forward to the listen.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Winter comes and asks how you spent your summer.....

The game loves and rewards those who love and reward the game

Agree with you, borna. As a listener of college hoops on the radio, Russ and Rob provided a broadcast that is better than most. There are many, many higher profile programs with a larger budget that have a broadcast quality that is below the level of Ohio's team of people. In the car a few weeks ago, I wanted to listen to Memphis vs Tennessee, but the Memphis radio guys were nearly un-listenable for me, complaining on air about every single call that didn't go Memphis' way. You don't get that from OUr guys, thankfully.

Russ is from the Western Suburbs of Chicago, I believe. As am I, as a matter of fact!

Looking forward to listening. I echo all of the great things being said about Russ and Rob. They both deserve a generous raise.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

I totally agree with your assessment of Russ and how he (and Rob, too) has transformed broadcasting for the Bobcats. I feel he often gets slighted by some in the administration and not given credit for always going "the extra mile" to give us a quality broadcast. We are indeed very fortunate to have kept Russ this long, but I fear if an opportunity presents itself to him we'll be looking for a new voice of the Bobcats. I'm hoping that the new AD and others in the administration will work with Russ to see what possibilities exist for taking it to the next level. With our renowned school of journalism and the talent of Mr. Eisenstein I'd think that the possibilities are endless. The hardest part may be finding the time to get all of the parties at the table at the same time for a good ol' picking of the brains!!!!

I believe his parents live in Dekalb - he mentions this on the air a lot. Dekalb is like one hour from Chicago with no traffic. Anywhere from 1-3 hours with traffic.

I'm from Glen Ellyn myself.
