Wow...this is exactly why I subscribe to the Athletic. I can't post the link because it's a paid site, but the article on Jeff Boals today was simply amazing. The story of Wayne Horsley going in a dumpster to get all of the Hunter things that Tom Boeh threw away is unreal. How big of an A**hole can you be Tom Boeh? Somehow I never heard the story of Boeh removing all Hunter references from the Convo after he fired him.
Luckily, Wayne salvaged the game ball from Ohio's '94 Pre-Season NIT Championship game.

One of the best things in the article was reading about Garry Hunter (Larry's brother) renewing season tickets for the first time since Larry was fired after he learned Boals was hired. Wonderful read.

I'm debating signing up for The Athletic simply to read this article.

Larry Hunter is a great example of:
There are no former Bobcats /- Only loyal Bobcats

Well worth it. The depth of reporting on your favorite teams is second to none.

I was under the impression that Wayne Horsley was the Parking Services guy who towed Tommy Freeman’s car... Am I getting my Athens names confused?

I've seen crazier things happen.

Wayne was in the equipment department. Never worked in parking services. Teaches school now.

Been here a long time Alan. I remember that thread and the threats. Not sure if it was before the crash or if it was removed by moderators or maybe someone has time to scare it up and submit to the Atlantic for a story. Were you sleeping or are you just covering? Maybe the former equipment guy will re activate and use one of his many psuedonyms to come here and verify.

Not real sure what you would like me to verify. I have never worked at parking services.

Neither sleeping or covering. I know Wayne personally both as an OU equipment employee and as a teacher in three different districts. He has never worked for parking services.

I never liked Boeh. Just one of those snake oil sales people that you would want to punch in the face given the chance. Used the school as a stepping stone the best he could and it seemed painfully obvious to me. But to pitch all of the memorabilia from the Hunter era? Hard to believe-not hard to believe someone would do that. Stop and think for a second that maybe just maybe some of those things are more meaningful than your personal beefs? Kudos to Wayne for the dumpster dive. I have sadly heard too many stories of someone going on a cleaning rampage at an organization and pitching all kinds of history. I'm not saying be a hoarder but have some kind of systematic archiving system that involves more than one person's discretion.

We have him to thank for Knorr, too.

Ok thanks. I feel better now.

You don’t have to work in parking services to get someone towed.

Not saying he did...G-man has all the poop on this infamous incident.

If you remember it wasn't towed, it was booted. Probably by the same folks who booted the Bobcat truck before the Ohio State game. No commonsense in that department back then.

While I am glad Ohio Athletics isn't the kind of entity to have the entire Athens community wrapped around their finger/at their beckon call like some college programs and their towns, it does seem like it is the opposite extreme at times from what I have gathered on here.

Wayne...thanks for saving one of the most valuable pieces associated with Ohio basketball history. I got goose bumps reading about how this all went down in The Athletic. Great job to save the ball and an even better job of returning it to Coach Boals.
