An interesting addition as Maddie Bazelak joins the Bobcats for the 2019-20 season after 4 years on the Duquesne VOLLEYBALL team. She was the Ohio Player of the Year and had a dominant career at Archbishop Alter, but chose to pursue Volleyball over Basketball.

Her game seems to maybe fit Dominique Doseck's and could be a good replacement for our lone regular graduate. It is going to be an exciting season.

.......Which is important because the women's programs in the MAC have raised the bar. It's become a fun league to watch and it will be interesting to see how far these programs can go in terms of bids and seeding when it comes tournament time.

Plus Katie Barker should be back from injury, right? And the transfer Caitlyn Kroll from St. Francis, a couple of true freshmen coming in, and maybe a couple of freshmen who redshirted last year that might be more ready to play. Depth shouldn't be a problem this year like it was this past year.

Yup.

Boldon said in release that they recruited Maddie pretty heavily in HS, but she chose VB instead.

Is she a "big"? We really need a tall lady to play center. I think that was our major weakness last year.

Just looked her up, she's only 6-0. We need a BigWoManz! ;-)

Yep, with all of the ladies returning, coming off injury, or either transfer or freshman redshirt this team looks loaded. What would make us really dangerous is if they can continue the run of MAC Freshman of the year with either one of the bigs that redshirted or one of the recruits but this time as a big.... if that could happen then look out.

I just dont think that Bolden emphasizes height. Also, with the type of players we recruit, we are never a good rebounding team. But we are excellent in every other area of the game.

Does Bolden not emphasize height, or has he been unable to recruit height with sufficient talent?

I think he'd recruit height if the players could potentially fit the system as well but it would be hard to land those types of players.

Tall thourghbreds in the women’s game tend to be playing at elite schools.

Exactly. Bolden would rather sacrifice height if necessary to get the skilled athletes he wants for his system.
