Even though Northwestern didn't have a great year this is still a tough task with only one travel day in between.

For those of you who have not followed this team closely, look at the high ceiling this team has in the coming years if it stays injury free and if Bolden (big if) is here for a few more years. This year the starting 5 has played the vast majority of minutes and in the games they lost they were often hurt by foul trouble. One of the starters, Dominique Doseck, is a senior. Burke is a junior. Burris and Hooks are sophomores. Johnson is a freshman. Of the five other players that are eligible this year two are seniors but Olivia Bower and Kendell Jessing, while their loss hurts, have not played a lot of minutes. The other three (Beck, Bambule, Rogan) are freshmen.

Katie Barker started most of the games last year and missed this year with an injury. Caitlyn Kroll was NEC freshman of the year and first team all NEC in 2018 and comes of a transfer redshirt next year. Because Hannah Thome, who missed the last couple of years battling injury, graduated there are four open scholarships.

So if I'm not mistaken for 2019-2020:

Seniors
Amani Burke

Juniors
Cece Hooks
Katie Barker (assuming she gets an injury redshirt)
Gabby Burris
Caitlyn Kroll (I think this is right as she already redshited once)

Sophomores
Erica Johnson
Deesh Beck
Katie Bambule
Hunter Rogan

Freshman
Alexandra Antonova (6'2" big who redshirted this year coming from Moscow, Russia)
Probably four new recruits.

With 70+% of minutes played returning next year, two starter level players coming off a missed season, and possibly only one senior next year this team looks loaded going forward if everything holds together.

Another big, Abbie Garnett, is currently redshirting and will be in the freshman class with Antonova. There are also two other scholarships already accounted for. Peyton Guice, 5'9'' guard out of Westerville South, and Ella Pope, 5'11' forward out of Utah. Her father is former NBA player and current Utah Valley men's coach Mark Pope.

Still two other open schollies. Another post player would be nice, then take best available with the other.

Here's a nice under recruited player: http://gmcsports.com/bkPlayerStats.aspx?player=497911

Of all the teams left in the Elite 8 only Ohio has to play (and travel) on one day's rest. I'm confident this team can dig deep and find a way to pull out a victory. You're not done...get #31!

Doseck sort of has the look on this women's that Jeff Boals had 25 years ago. She's a little older than the core of talented players on one of the best teams in school history. She doesn't quite posses the talent of some of the younger players but, to me, she has that future D1 coach look to her. It is hard to tell from the outside exactly how much that loss of player leadership has of hurting next year's team.

Anyway, enough about next year. GO BOBCATS! BEAT NORTHWESTERN!

The only way to watch is through BTN Plus, which means you have to pay $9.95 for a one month subscription to Northwestern events.

https://nusports.com/schedule.aspx?path=wbball &

This looks like a tough one. Northwestern plays a 2-3 matchup zone which looks very similar to Buffalo's zone, which has always given Ohio trouble. It is anchored by a good rebounder and shot-blocker, 6'2" Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah. The Wildcats were also effective in slowing WVU down with a full-court press.

Although three-pointers are not emphasized, 6'2" forward Abi Scheid is an efficient three-point shooter, as are guards Jordan Hamilton and Veronica Burton. The best offensive player is probably Lindsay Pulliam, who features a nice mid-range game.

You can watch it online for free if you get Big Ten network as part of your cable/satellite package. I don't have any TV subscription so I haven't been able to watch any of these games unfortunately. I wish they were on ESPN+ because I do get that.

I think you need Big Ten plus. I cannot get it to work with my cable account.

Doseck with 3 fouls. Hooks and Burke with two each.

Ohio starting to build on the lead, Go Cats

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

It's a 61-58 loss, doggone it.

Might things have turned out better had they played at The Convo and our team would have felt the hometown love? No way of knowing.

Well done making it to the quarterfinals.

See many of you on the court next season.

To the others, godspeed and good luck to you.

Congratulations to the Lady Bobcats on a great season!

And here’s to hoping Coach Bolden hasn’t coached his last game at Ohio.

+1

These young ladies need to hold their heads up high tonight or in the AM as they walk into Chicago O'Hare to catch the flight home. They have done an outstanding job representing the university.

And with all the talent coming back, and if we can keep Bolden. They will have an unlimited up side = look out MAC teams.

What a sweet run! Good enough to have taken this tourney.

Congratulations on a great season. Next year, with the returners and what's coming aboard, this team will not be playing at a mid-major level. And we'll see a schedule that will reflect that.

Go OHIO

Still bummed out by this. Can't believe we somehow lost it. Really thought they could take it all.

Excited for next year though, what a collection of returning talent.

Ohio led by 8 and never could get a basket to really extend the lead and put it away. Northwestern always got points to hang around just enough. Fouls and free throws were a big difference. The Bobcats lost in the final minute with their two leading scorers fouled out (and with Doseck with four). Ohio was 11 of 16 at the line, Northwestern was 23 of 29. Rebounds were a big difference as usual because Ohio is smaller than almost every team it plays but it forced more turnovers to even that out. I think no doubt Ohio was better and would win the majority of the times the teams played but it only got the one chance unfortunately. It was an awesome season, though, and next year could be even better.

The big worry now, of course, is other teams poaching our coach and top players.

I was hoping the ESPN app was screwed up and being stuck on 56 was an error.

Excellent year for the Lady Bobcats. I liked the coverage in the Columbus Dispatch as the final Ohio team bowed out of its seaon play. (I get delivery so maybe was early edition and there was a full article later. If so my apologies)
