Trying to find myself in the 3 second mark storming the floor after beating WMU at home.

What a great memory! Leon was a force in the paint.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Darn shame he never had a really good PG to play with after Fears left. The Fears "what might have been" never goes away.

EDIT: Also, damn was Sonny T good!

Remember when we used to argue over when it is appropriate to storm the court and when it is not?

Don't believe we've had that discussion on here in several years for some reason.

With the run we made that year, storming the floor was 100% warranted. ;)

The WMU game at home was particular fun because their leading scorer Ben Reed was jawing at the O Zone all game. I thought I remember an F bomb from him and possibly a bird or two.

Holy cow...I forgot how good of a look Troutman had to win it in regulation.

Right? And, Right? on the Edit.

If Fears stays, man, we coulda been something.

Always fun to see one of my favorite (and very underrated) Bobcats in Mychal Green.

Man, Fears, Green, Troutman.... What a combination at guard.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

And Whitney Davis who was coming into his own off the bench. Plus Leon, and then Tillman was coming in soon as a Freshmen. That one is almost as intriguing as the 2012 what if.

And to think this occurred under the much-maligned (my bags are packed I’m ready to go) TOS. As a Pittsburgh sports fan I’ve been to Super Bowls, World Series games and Stanley Cup final games but this Bobcat game goes down as one of the best in person games of my lifetime. I think it’s the closet I ever had to a heart attack, lol!

And we came within an air ball of knocking off a Florida team stocked full of future NBA’ers at the Dance in Nashville.

What awesome memories including THE backflip!

Go Bobcats.

I agree FearLeon Sonny got a great look but what about the full length cross-court pass from Fears to Sonny on that out-of-bounds play! Priceless 👍😀

I was 12 when I was at this game. Sonny was one of my favorite bobcats of all time.

That's what a point guard looks like with vision like that.

I think my heart stopped for a brief moment in that Sweet 16 game against Carolina when we were close at the end.

I'll never forget being in the building in Nashville when Green hit the three to tie.

The Buffalo Student Section was actually on the floor getting ready to take the Court in Victory only to have Leon crush their hopes, was one of the greatest comebacks in MAC Championship game History !!!

Was there in the building. Heart stopped then and really stopped when DJ half court shot was in the air when it looked in all the way. The most heartbreaking and thrilling moment of my sports life. What a team...what a moment and a missed FT away from playing Kansas to go to the Final Four.

I was there as well, still haven’t gotten over it. I stayed in St. Louis till Sunday morning and I had Bobcat gear on that morning when I got on the elevator at the Westin. When the door opened Craig Sager was the only one on it.

He said he thought we had their and I quote “their asses” and he proceeded to say not only did we lose the game we lost our coach as well. Groce was taking the Illini job. I asked was it official and he said not publicly but he was gone. Got in my car to leave and on the radio was a sports talk show with Mateen Cleaves and was interviewing none other than John Groce. Mateen was saying he wished he were Groce’s agent as he was about to become a rich man. Groce played it down stated it was all conjecture. Yea right lol!

Last year I was in an airport bar waiting on a flight in Raleigh and ended up seated to a guy wearing a huge North Carolina Championship ring. Started bsing with him turned out it was a Joe Halliday Roy Williams long time director of basketball operations. Asked him if he remembered the Sweet 16 game in St. Louis and he said Oh Yea remember it well. Told him I was there and he said Roy and staff needed an underwear change after dodging us. Said Roy and company were really impressed with the Bobcats and even commented they could really hear our crowd.

I remember sitting in the club level listening to the U@B fans chanting “This is our house” when they went up 16. Felt like Leon’s tip sat on that rim forever live lol. Good times.

I had forgotten how incredible — and incredibly risky — Fears' pass was to end regulation. If that thing sails out of bounds without being touched Buffalo is going to get a really good look on the other end to win it. And it likely would've been Turner Battle taking the shot. Yikes.

Also recently found this from Ball State's archives. Didn't win this one, but some great footage of Bonzie vs. Trent in 1995.

Gives me chills. I lived in Boyd with Troutman, Whitney, Halbert, etc. and this was one of my favorite Bobcat memories in school.

Making the Sweet 16 was a dream, but this has to be the singular most exciting moment of my Bobcat lifetime.

Ball hanging on the rim with the league title and an NCAA bid in the balance? Unreal. When it went in, my wife literally peed her pants. (Yes, literally.)

I'm sure there are Buffalo fans that still have nightmares about that stickback.

I watched this game at a bar by myself in Columbus and absolutely lost my mind on Leon’s tip-in. I still have an .mp3 of Derek Scott’s call at the end, and break it out every now and then. “BEDLAM in Cleveland, Ohio!”

Exactly. This was my freshman year, and I was in the house for this game and rushed the floor with everyone else. Easily my #1 Ohio Basketball moment.

Dan Lowe organized buses for the semifinals and finals at the Gund. My roommate lived 15 minutes from the arena, and Dan made sure that we would have a ride up Friday and back Saturday if we stayed at my roommate's Friday night. We got back at like 12:55 AM Sunday morning, and everyone sprinted for their dorms to see the highlights on the 1AM SportsCenter.
