A list of the 35 "Worst College Football Stadiums" in the nation was on the internet today. It was sort of surprising See if you agree. Miami's Yaeger was listed as No. 3.

Those list never include FCS stadiums. That would be a better way to find the very worst stadiums. Lowest level of amentities.
Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

I haven't seen the list you are taking about but I think there is a new list issued every year. It is just FBS. Obviously, most "college football statdiums" are worse than Peden. Obviously, most FBS stadiums rank higher. We don't need a big list to really know that. The lists that I have seen, and I assume this is by the same people, it isn't just the seats and vending and such that make the stadium. It is also clearly the team, the band, the attendance and I, when I have seen these lists, have always thought that there were a couple of things beyond the physical stadium keeping us out of the bottom 25.

I love going to games in Peden, but my goodness is it almost a dump. The “flying” seat sections make the place look like a drunken architect designed that addition. The only stadium that it really reminds me of is Fairfield stadium in Huntington and that’s been torn down for decades. It hasn’t been that long ago that sections of the facade were falling off. If you like the stadium it’s got to be because you love Ohio, but that doesn’t make it a good stadium in any objective way.

Our stadium needs a rehab and the wings need to be figured out. I love the place for my sigh lines but it needs work badly. Concessions are horrible, lighting in that area too, restrooms, the list goes on.

Top to bottom repainting would help immensely. Don't know that there's any ROI in anything else. We might not be fielding a program 8-10 years from now.

Perhaps OHIO can dismantle the stadium in Cleveland and move it south. You know, after the franchise extorts the local government for a cool billion to build them a new one. A new one for the shittiest franchise over the last 30 years other than the Lions.

Power Wash and Paint could go a long way. An upgrade of restrooms and concession areas would also be welcome. Minor aesthetic maintenance would be awesome. They could even repaint the numbers for rows. From an experience standpoint I would like to see consistent delivery of audio. It's loud at times too quiet at other times. The occasional buzzing or random mic crashing sounds.
I love Lou but he needs a spotter who knows the roster and maybe employ some binocs.
I don't know something I find charming overall about the old girl. I really enjoy the scenery and tailgate experience. I totally get the gripes though.

I second/third colobobcat66 thoughts..... Those flying wing sections are so, so, so, bad!!! Get rid of them and add seating from the end of the East & West sections of the stadium that will wrap around the end zone, stopping at the athletic center (at the mezzanine level), but continues around underneath it closer to field level. The structure has some very good bones, and a lot of potential. Sad to see those stupid wings still exist when the entire north side of the stadium could be closed off with newer bleacher seating & the athletic center that would make the stadium feel more complete, and aesthetically look much more pleasing.
On another note, I think Miami's stadium is much nicer than OU's

OK, so replacing those wings and integrating into the rest of the stadium will cost, what, $4-5 million? Other upgrades another $5 million?
What payback will we get on that investment? Increased attendance/ticket revenue? No. Significantly higher concession revenue? No. A few BobcatAttackers feeling better about themselves because their stadium doesn't look old? Yep.
Ever been to Wrigley? It's a dump. Our stadium has character, and the "flying wings" were built that way to ensure good sightlines.
Wash it and paint it and I'll be happy. When I attend games, all of my attention is on what's happening on the field.

Re painting and powerwashing Peden. Send a check to the Ohio University Foundation with a note saying your donation is for Campus Beautification and specifically for Peden. Way too few alums donate for Campus Beautification.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
Some talk like they are all in for donations and expanding their ticket packages if that issue is addressed. Fact is, with the traditional stadium structure, current facilities, Academic Center, and extra enterence gates, the raised stands actually help.

I know I’m in the extreme minority here but I’ve actually begun, over time, to be OK with the wings. I might even go so far as to say I kind of like them, especially with the addition of the Sook Center, new gates, etc. I like the openness that they create for walking and getting around in that area. Once I shifted to thinking, ok imagining, it as a “new architectural design” it became more tolerable too. Sort of along the lines of the “notch” in the third base side at Great American Ballpark. Changing them out would generally be a waste of money IMHO. Now, painting, power washing, etc. that’s another story.

Not to sound like Homer Simpson after a night at Moe's, but the addition of the Jackie O's tent has made any deficiencies at Peden seem trivial. The product on the field and the overall environment, not just the stadium, is why I continue to drive down from Cleveland twice a year.

I love Peden. I love Wrigley. I love non-fancy things that get the job done (see my rants in siberia thread about new dorms). I go for the game not the stadium. Just give me a seat and a game and I'm happy. Every time I go into the restroom and pee in the trough while nearly hitting my head on the concrete of the stands above me (this applies to both Peden & Wrigley), it warms my heart.

I get it, I love going to games there as well. I’m just wondering if Peden comes across to the average athlete or parent or potential student who visits and gets a good look at Peden. I’m not sure that they feel the same as those of us who have had a positive experience at Ohio and could care less that the place is falling apart and needs significant updating/upkeep.
