Albin makes a list of potential HC options for Purdue.

That's a rather long list of candidates. Pretty much every G5 coach who's had a good season is on that list lol.

Rich Rod would be a home run.

The SMU guy made me burst out laughing. Just like he would do when he saw that call come through.

Jacksonville State (which is in rural Alabama for those not familiar) couldn't match the money Purdue would offer, thus my $$ is on Rich Rod.

This may seem stupid but I think Purdue should go after an NFL assistant.

Who that person is? I don't know. Will need to do some research but a Defensive guy would be a great hire for Purdue.

Also, what are your thoughts on former players coming back to Purdue. Wouldn't it be awesome if Brees decided to put on a visor.

Vrabel would be a huge W. Big 10 guy. Defensive guy. Former player. Everyone knows his resume, but he could bring a little attitude to Purdue. I love he's been around the block. Especially in this job where there will be substantial hurdles. He can put a staff together bc hes done it. He's seen it. He can ride the wave of some L's.

My money is on JaMarcus Shephard.

They dont take my money so it means nothing, but he coached at Purdue for a bit, is from Fort Wayne, coached high school football in Indiana. Has a bit of that Alabama gravitas to bring up north...

Though that job is ASS, I can't imagine a 1st year head coach showing up to West Lafayette, Indiana and getting players there in this climate. Having a good basketball program could help, but they've been a bad program lucky to be in a power conference for much of the last 5 decades (Aside from the Breesus years obv). Dating back to 1970 - 11 of their 14 head coaches had less than a .500 record. Money is nice, but this is not a place I'd want to try move up in my career.

I'd probably throw the bank at Jamey Chadwell. Someone in the vein of Cignetti (though much much younger), who has been around, who knows who he is, what he can do, isn't looking over his shoulder, just wins football games. Can probably bring in a nice portal haul to jump start this thing.

Don’t see Vrabel taking a college job. May be wrong, but do not see it.

I think Cignetti would be the model now for any program trying to change its fortunes. Master the portal. Chadwell is probably waiting for the right opportunity (SEC or Clemson) and would be difficult to lure to Purdue.

Former o$u players, some that were Vrabel teammates, are on record saying he is not interested in the o$u job (if it becomes open).

If Albin is hired away by another school (I don’t want to lose him), any chance we get Ryan Day to come down to Athens?

We have several mutual friends, and over multiple conversations we've had, there seems to be no interest at all in the college game and the coaches lifestyle of the college game. NFL, you coach football. College, you do everything but spend your time coaching football.

Likely he would end up at Purdue or something over Albin. A lot of teams would kill for his 61-1 record or whatever it is vs Big 10 teams.
