From my perspective, it seemed like a large expenditure of time/labor/travel for limited ROI. Perhaps they'll still have events in Athens and Columbus. The people who attended these generally fell in three categories - and I emphasize generally - loyal donors, loyal Bobcats who may or may not give and "loyal" Bobcats who got to have a nice time on the university's dime. I can guarantee you from personal experience in business and fundraising, that these types of events rarely lead to opening new pockets - at least not enough to warrant the expense. However, the man I talked with, who claimed to have been involved in the decision making, did not indicate that any real analysis had been done related to ROI.
