I assume all of those names will be in the portal. Certainly Hendricks and Mason Williams.

I mean if Will Kacmarek can end up starting at Ohio State then surely Mason Williams can end up on a P4 team.

Thomeson had a really good year. DJ I thought was a bit overhyped going into the season, his stats are almost identical to last year. Not sure he made that major jump we were all expecting.

Remember last year when we didn't lose anyone before the bowl game despite a coaching change? That was impressive.

I hate this annual dance...it gets so tiresome. Hard to imagine fans putting up with wild west free agency every 12 months for very long.

It's funny. When Tyler Foster and Will K. left for different OSUs, I thought for sure Foster would get more playing time. But it was completely the opposite, and Foster is on record describing what a terrible experience it was.

We should bring some of these guys back to discuss some realities, though I suspect a lot of folks are probably asking Sieh. Or I hope. If I was 22 and someone was dangling the Big 12 in front of my face I'd probably jump at it also. Hate seeing kids leave and not play (Buehl), but I'm sure Colorado was a fun moment of time. Not everyone is gonna be a Sieh and be able to damn near take a year off and be able to bounce right back like he never left. I'd love to hear some of these kids talk about the situations, cause it has to be really weird. Showing up at spring practice at a new school, new playbooks, new staff, probably know absolutely no one and try to fit in and make an impression in just a few weeks. And then to not play much or not have on-field success. What is Shay Taylor thinking right now? OU's always been able to sell continuity - I hope we're not about to experience some real shakeups. I'm rambling.

Grass isn't always greener. Just hope the kids graduate with a degree they can use, and an opportunity for a good life after. If they make money while in college, champagne and caviar is the way I see it. Last thing I want to hear is kid transfers, regrets doing so, and life around him is miserable.

I think the golden era of the portal is coming to a close based on more freshman being signed and more deals in place to keep a player moving. If a guy transferring out isn't part of the two deep how does he have the stats to attract a P4 program? Its going to be bench guys in the P4 not getting the deals moving down to a roster where they are needed. I left the service academies out of this since they play by different recruiting rules (One year Air Force had 71 recruits) going back since the portal opened in 2021.

2021 Freshman Class (1 class 30+)
Highest P4 total (Virginia Tech 30)
Highest G6 total (Central Michigan 26)

2022 Freshman Class (2 classes 30+)
Highest P4 total (Texas A&M, Georgia 30)
Highest G6 total (New Mexico St 30)

2023 Freshman Class (1 class 30+)
Highest P4 total (Virginia Tech 30)
Highest G6 total (Temple 32)

2024 Freshman Class (6 classes 30+)
Highest P4 total (Nebraska 33)
Highest G6 total (ULM 40)

2025 Freshman Class (10 classes 30+)
Highest P4 total (Syracuse 35)
Highest G6 total (Washington St. 36)

2026 Freshman Class (15 classes 30+)
Highest P4 total (West Virginia 47)
Highest G6 total (Temple & EMU 33)

Part of the change for the P4 by having more Freshman they might be able to get them cheaper than trying to retain existing guys. G6 seems more interested in trying to feast on the portal and fill team needs.

This era may be coming to an end in another way. Just heard an interview Steve Scalise and he seems pretty confident that Congress is going to pass a bill that will allow a governing authority ("NCAA or another entity," in his words) to restrict transfers. He cited examples of guys playing for sixth different schools with redshirts and Covid waivers, etc., and then asked rhetorically, are they really getting an education at all? He said that some level of anti-trust relief had broad, bipartsan support in Congress.

The Score Act has a provision in it that any school making 50 million in media money is prohibited from using student fees toward revenue sharing. It also only guarantees only one transfer which would muzzle a lot of the hopping for a new endorsement or payment.

https://legiscan.com/US/text/HB4312/id/3262275

The restriction of football rosters to 105 means the P4 can't have walk-ons the way they did up to 125 and beyond. WVU decided to go with a 47 man class which includes guys that will be PWO level with the idea of being up against a high attrition rate.

At the G6 level UNLV and Memphis spent the full 20 million and honestly all if guarantees you is to be a contender in a G6 conference. In the P4 the talent is preading around. Indiana, Vanderbilty and Texas Tech spent total 55 million with their NIL collective+revenue share. In the G6 it looks like the gap is narrowing between the AAC and the other conferences this year. PAC-12 probably had the best class and some of the SBC programs are cutting into the AAC's recruiting.
