Lost 34-7 to the NW Mildcats and fumbled the ball all over the field, when they weren't throwing interceptions. This reminded me of a bowl loss that BG had a number of years ago when they could not hang on to the ball and lost something like 54-7. Worst performance by a MAC team in a bowl game since then that I can remember. NWs first three TDs were scored on consecutive possessions, each one starting inside the 25 after three consecutive turnovers. After a scoreless first quarter, NW scores these three TDs in something like five minutes. Just downright pathetic.

Brutal. I turned it on when it was 0-0 and watched Northwestern take a 21-0 lead. Embarrassing, especially since it looked like a nice home crowd for the Chips.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

Big difference in a power four team and a MAC school. However, Toledo hung tough with Louisville. More times than not, the MAC will not beat a power program

Our loss to Ball State was way more emabarassing.

Still not over it.

And them shutting down a 10-win UNLV team, which had scored 30+ in 12 games this season, and held them to their lowest total of the entire season - by ELEVEN. Wild.

The real MACC match-up was Western - OU. They robbed us of a good game. We robbed ourselves of a definitive chance.

Knew this was coming. Toledo or OU should have been playing this game instead. CMU should've faced Kennesaw or UNLV at most.

This isn't CMU's fault.....this is the MAC's fault. I get attendance and home crowd matter but the overall win in the Capital One Cup matters the most. It how others view our conference.

Hopefully next year they will take best competitor vs region and live a little. Might cost more but the win is more important in recruits and viewers eyes.

This is 4-1 or 3-2 minimum for bowl challenge standings if set up properly:
CMU vs Kennesaw
WMU vs Louisville
Toledo vs Fresno
Miami vs UNLV
OU vs NW

I watched the first half. Not sure many teams come back from 3 straight TO's converted to 21 points.

CMU didn't defeat a single team with a winning record so not a big surprise.

W1 San Jose St (3-9)
W2 Wagner (5-7)
W3 Eastern Michigan (4-8)
W4 Bowling Green (4-8)
W5 UMass (0-12)
W6 Buffalo (5-7)
W7 Kent St (5-7)

CMU could have kept it a score closer 14-27 had they played better but I can't see a path to victory against a Big Ten team in a bowl game for a marginal bowl participant out of the MAC.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Fiami @ Peden with 25,086 fans
2023 10-7 near shutout of Iowa State @ Solich Field
2025 17-10 defeat of WVU @ Peden in front of 26,740

Exactly. Despite what 96 says, not all MAC teams are created equal. I would have had it only slightly different:

CMU vs Kennesaw
WMU vs Louisville
Miami vs Fresno
Ohio vs UNLV
Toledo vs NW

But, we are in the same ballpark, and either one our matchings would have been much better than what actually happened. This has become a pattern in recent years where our best teams do not get matched up with the best opposition.

Toledo played in the Detroit bowl game last season. No shock they didn't play in this same bowl again in 2025. BG played in that game the previous two seasons. Western Michigan played in the game in 2021. The date for the game is usually right after Christmas. Makes sense for schools closer to Detroit to be selected for that bowl game attendance wise. The bowl reported almost 28,000 in attendance.

Are you saying that nothing could have been done to have had better MAC matchups in these bowl games? I personally don't believe that. I think the MACdaddies are in slumber mode as usual.

I get it.

I get the reasoning. But they put a team we beat and just got whacked to finish .500 over us.

So again - it’s nothing, but pain. We deserved it. And showed why. Deeply unfortunate season. 9 wins helps - but it should’ve been more.

I’ll take 9 wins with all our player losses after last year. We had areas of weakness, but we ended up closing most of those. Could have won more and could have lost more, a lot of close games. We won one game against a team with a winning record- UNLV.
