Not sure I see the good in this. This puts limits on your flexibility to schedule necessary buy games. While it is neat to have seven home games in some years, if you're a school like Kent that needs those guarantees to pay the bills, sometimes you may only get four home games.

The more important story is just below this one.

I wonder if this means that we will have only 5 home games in some years. Working to carefully keep things where there was one payout game, one payin game, and one side each of a home and home was hard enough. Now, we have to match the year with a road game in the home and home with the year with 5 conference home games and vice versa. I hope the MAC can tell us that 8 or 10 years in advance. It strikes me that having an odd number of teams all play an odd number of conference games is mathematically impossible. 13*9 is 117 game outcomes. A game always was two outcomes - one win & one loss. You draw the conclusion. This just gives more weight to the South Dakota State for four years starting next year theory that I threw out there earlier.

I understand why huge conferences these days want to do this, however, if you are someone on the committee you already have far more data to assess teams within a conference against each other than you do with teams in different conferences. For instance, we have only 9 non-conference games with only 7 against D1 in men's basketball. You have to find out where the MAC stands as a whole against 30 other conferences to have a hope of being fair on the committee. It this enough data? Is only 3 games enough data to assess 11 conferences? Hardly.

EDIT: I also wonder, as we already have two G5s scheduled, one side each of a home and away, if we will be looking to push one of these back depending on if we start in 2028 with 5 conference home games or 5 away games. I think we have to keep getting payouts against P4s and we'll need FCS games to keep a balance. The most likely solution to keep 6 home and 6 away games is to only play one side of a home and home series each year. The other is to only get a payout game in years with 5 conference home games and only play an FCS in years with 5 conference road games. I don't think that the latter will happen for budget reasons. Unfortunately, these days, it is playing G5s that provide the good matchups. Trying to win on the road against a P4 is very difficult in the NIL era.

I don't know if this was what you were referring to, but...

"STILLWATER, Okla. -- First-year Oklahoma State coach Eric Morris stepped away from celebrating in his office packed with family and friends, walked outside with a Coors Banquet in hand and sat down in a seat overlooking Boone Pickens Stadium."

That kinda s*it gets you fired at Ohio.
