The BA Board confidently says 6:00 p.m. yet both OUr site and the Rocket's site says TBA. Anyone know for sure? Or are we waiting for TV to decide even though it's only 6 days away?

Guess I'll reply to my own thread since Ted posted the game thread while I was typing mine with a TBA. We're waiting. Thanks, Ted.

Ohio's Game Notes list a 6 PM start which is why I put that on our schedule. Ohio and Toledo's respective websites list the game as TBA on their schedules.

The MattSarz site doesn't list 6 PM as a possibility:

I'll be coming up for the game next week, so I decided to go ahead and DVR it in case I forget. Although it didn't name the teams on ESPN2, it looks like a 7 or 7:30 game start. I'll look again tonight.

The radio crew of Cornelius and Eisenstein announced that this game "has been officially announced for a 6:00 pm kickoff" during the Kent State broadcast. However, I never saw that time listed on the MAC website or OU or Toledo website so I never made plans around it. I love the early kickoffs for week night games as games going to 11:00 or beyond + the drive home are kind of a buzzkill for anyone with travel and a job.

I still prefer 7 just because it allows for people who work to get to the stadium or TV without rushing around. At least that drive to Chillicothe is quick and kinda fun (albeit deer-laden). I've done that drive more than 100 times. I started at the Chillicothe Gazette while I was still living in Athens and commuted for a month before the paper made me move to Ross County, then I took every opportunity I could to get back to Athens during my stint there.

Agree on that front - it's also nice to have an hour to explore campus and downtown before a game.
Chillicothe has a nice pipeline to Athens. An OU branch and a great deal of students on that sideline who aren't playing but are essential to the program are from graduates area high schools. There's not much left of our Gazette. Building sold and maybe a half dozen employees :(

I know. I still pop in to Chillicothe every year or so to see old friends and have a Cozy Burger or three. The demise of the Gazette is sad and indicative of what's happening to journalism - most acutely locally - all across the country. It's a nightmare for democracy in terms of keeping the public informed and keeping those in power honest. On a personal level, it's sad because so many old colleagues who once did amazing journalism are now out of work. Back 20 years ago, the exodus had begun, but the Gazette still was a great place to earn some stripes as a fledgling editor.

The remaining folks are fantastic and work their tails off. It's frustrating as well because so many people don't understand what has happened (and why it has happened) to local newspapers - and to a possibly greater extent - to local radio. Our downtown is at least thriving for the time being. Looking forward to a trip to Athens this Wednesday!
