On another note, we need to get him nominated for the OHIO Hall of Fame. First NCAA QB at the Division I level to throw for 5,000 and rush for 1,500 in a career. Here's where he stands all-time in various categories: #3 Passing yards #3 Completions #4 yards per game #2 total yards #9 total Tds Was a 4 year starter.... He was saddled with the worst coaching staff in the history of Ohio football. Cleve Bryant was very critical of Thornton's high interception ratio and once told a reporter (and, ultimately, opposing coaches) that if AT threw an INT, he wouldn't be allowed to attempt a pass the rest of the game. This is why I have only a dim memory of Mr. Thornton. I've tried so hard, and have been so successful, in repressing memories of OHIO football at that time. Perhaps I need memory restoration therapy, so I can remember a few of the good things that occurred at that time.
