Remember how many of us thought we had brought in an overflow of riches in defensive backs the last couple of recruiting classes? Well where the heck are they?

Letting WRs, TEs & RBs catch passes all over the field each week.

We have two defensive backs in the NFL, one has made over 20 million in his career and the other is on his way to a big pay day. We need to find away to land some corner backs that can play right away. Hogan just got his hands on a ball for the first time this year. If he is going to be our best defensive back, he needs to be more consistent. It is disheartening to see us get outrecruited at that position yearly. I love the guys that we got last year, Brooks seems to be good but only 165 pounds. The coaches will need to get some big play wide receivers and big play defensive backs next year. We were rated in the bottom 20 as far as pass defense last year even though we were in the top 10 in sacks. We need our next TJ Wright and Dion Byrum combo.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

It is either the scheme or the personnel or a combination of both. LC would say we have the players. That would make the scheme the problem. I tend to think we don’t have the talent in those positions now. Whatever it is we will not win a championship with these kind of performances.

Every team remaining on the schedule will throw at Ellis 20 times each game. If I was an opposing OC, that's exactly what I'd do.

Well, it is true that I don't like the scheme. I much preferred the cover 2 to the cover 4. That said, the fact that they recruited as many DBs the last couple years is a sign that the coaches felt more players are needed, so it may be some of both.

Ohio had a tradition of great corners for a long time. At corner, I've seen Byrum, TJ Wright, Mark Parson, Julian Posey, Thad Turner, Travis Carrie, and Ian Wells all took a stab at the NFL. At Saftey I think Mitchell is the only one. In the end, there haven't been any NFL prospects since the switch to Cover 4.

The other comment I'll make about cornerback, is that for whatever reason, cornerback coach has been a revolving door, more than any other position.

Purdue, UMass, and now CMU have abused our secondary with the TE on a skinny post route. I expect every team we play from here on out to try the same thing until we show we can stop it.

Cover 4 sucks. We'd do better out of a 3-3-5, if we had one more good safety. Losing Mayne Williams has really hurt.
