At work today, I started wondering about post statistics here at Bobcat Attack...because thinking about who posts what and how often was more interesting than what I had to think about at work. Also, I wanted to convince myself that I don't really spend THAT much time on here....

Anyhoo, as of right now, there are about 222,735 posts on BA. By my count (and I very well could have missed someone), the top 20 posters are:

1. Monroe -------- 8,449
2. OhioCatFan ---- 7,337
3. LC ------------ 7,183
(These 3 posters have contributed approximately 10% of all posts on BA)

4. Pataskala ----- 5,706
5. JSF ----------- 5,239
6. bornacatfan --- 4,374
7. Ted Thompson -- 4,166
8. The Optimist -- 4,034
9. OUVan --------- 4,031
10. Jeff McKinney - 3,848
(The top 10 constitute almost 25% of all posts)

11. OU_Country ---- 3,697
12. Bcat2 --------- 3,668
13. Alan Swank ---- 3,543
14. RSBobcat ------ 3,290
15. BillyTheCat --- 3,278
16. GoCats105 ----- 3,248
17. perimeterpost - 3,062
18. Doc Bobcat ---- 2,884
19. Uncle Wes ----- 2,882
20. C Money ------- 2,777 (well, 2,778 now, I guess...)

The top 20 posters make up almost 39% of all posts on Bobcat Attack. This should be all post-crash in 2010, since I believe all previous posts were lost.

Use this information responsibly.

Go Bobcats.

For the record, I'm very happy with my second place. I have no desire to actually win the BACC! ;-) I guess I'm just satisfied with mediocracy.

Or, should I say satisfied with being mediocre. ;-)

Interesting data, C Money. Here's a question you can research if you find the time:

How long will it take allen, currently not among the top 20, to overtake the current leader if both allen and monroe continue at their respective pace of recent months? Without an exhaustive research (actually, no research at all), I've gotta believe allen is quickly closing in with each passing day.

And with this post, I just got one closer to the leader board.

Yes, I'd give allen the rookie of the year award without doing any research at all. All I need is the Monroe Eye-Test. One can tell -- just looking at his wonderful keyboard mastery -- that this man has NFL board talent! ;-)

Is it possible to divide these stats between the various forums on BA? I suspect that we'd find some different folks as leaders if we just looked at the baseball forum, for instance. I think I tend to post a little more on the football forum than the basketball forum. I think that's probably true of Monroe, as well.

And, within a blink of an eye, I just lost ground to OCF.

Someone with the raw site data might be able to do that (so, Ted or Ryan). I just scrolled through enough threads looking at post counts until I was comfortable that I had the top 20.

My guess is LC is the clear leader on football boards, and JSF is the leader on the basketball boards, which is especially impressive when you consider that he hasn't been super active in a couple years.

It would be nice to know what the numbers were pre-crash. The top 20 would look much different, although the top 5 or 10 probably wouldn't.

Interestingly, I've noticed Allen at about 20-25 post per day lately, good pick up

Fun list! Thanks

Much like Golden Corral, quantity < quality. I only see about 10 of my Top 20 favorite posters on this list. The top 3 posters remind me of one of my all-time favorite quotes: "I like brevity, but I love to hear myself talk."

Doesn't look like I have much reason to hope that I'll crack the Top 40. How deflating and disillusioning.

#1 in my book(get it?)...quality over quantity.

And JSF hanging in at 5 despite being idle the last few years. No Bobcat Love.

BL's came in flurries, so I'm not surprised he's not in the Top 40.

I took a year or so off, so I fell hopelessly behind in this life-or-death competition.

I don't know how to see my post count without posting so here's another one to add to it.

Also, impressed I made the list for the general discussion forum. I guess I just like arguing with RP so much.

Fantastic list Ryan.

Now, let's send out an invite to all those posters and meet up in Athens for rounds and rounds and rounds of beers.

"Debating"/"Discussing" not arguing.

At least that's what my parents used to say when asked them why they were arguing.

Haha yes always a friendly debate, even when it gets heated. After all, we're all Bobcats.

I do think the statistics are really cool though. For me, it makes sense that I would be on the general discussion list but none of the others. I love coming here to read about OHIO sports but there are people here that know so much more than me that I usually have little to contribute that hasn't already been said.

On the other hand, I spend a lot of time on the general discussion board because I like using this site to stay up to date on Athens/Ohio University happenings in general as well.
