The TOS to Ole Miss thread took an interesting turn and got me to thinking about the nature of the violations and how they compare with other tomfoolery.

It has to be covering up violent acts. That's infinitely more serious than breaking NCAA violations through payments or academic fraud. The Paterno and Baylor scandals were infinitely worse than anything that SMU did.

I think that the voting on this poll is seriously off, because some people (including me) did not read the poll carefully before we voted. The poll does not ask which is the WORST offense. The poll asks which is the LEAST offensive. All of the items in the poll are extremely repugnant.

Unfortunately, what we end up with is a poll of no value. Some people read the poll correctly, and voted for what they thought was LEAST offensive. Others misread the poll, and voted for what they thought was MOST offensive. Therefore it's hard to make anything of the answers.

I suggest that we start over, and erase this poll, and resubmit it, and this time, hopefully we'll all get that the poll is for LEAST offensive, not MOST.

Well folks. It's the Dog Days of summer and you can tell iit at BA.

On a more serious note.

The Smiling Skull near the train station. Is that the old Roaring 20s?

Skull a nice dive bar by the way. $1.25 PBR.

I only made it into the Skull once, on a (true) shuffle. I don't remember a whole lot about it, other than drinking out of mason jars.

How about the new(ish) beer hall in the old W.G. Grinder's building? I tried stopping in last spring but it was closed. Worth trying again?

Facilitating or ignoring cash or gifts is the least repugnant of those offenses to me. I don't condone it but it doesn't bother me as much as some others. Especially ones that disregard the health and well being of the student athletes.

i can't give a wink and a nod to anything listed in this poll. i'd want the head man\woman fired for any one of these transgressions.

Trick question. I find them all repugnant, so one is no more or less than the others. In my view, repugnancy does not have levels of intensity when they are all bad. Like asking me which way of murdering someone is less deathly.

I would have to add things nose-picking, slapping helmets, or having a mullet to find a least repugnant behavior. Or looking like a ferret.

Ignoring personal known drug use. I'm sure every coach is guilty of that one if they've had a career over 10 years in the business.

Well, three of us admit that we failed this reading test, but in reality it has to be much higher. I find it hard to believe that ten voters find covering up violent crimes least offensive, and another three aren't bothered by grade fixing.

If confession is good for the soul, I admit that I failed the reading comprehension test also. I was just reading too fast, that's my excuse.

I failed it and thus voted for covering up violent acts.

I flunked the test, I confess.

Cash gifts to players is least repugnant. It's cheating, and coaches definitely shouldn't facilitate it or allow it. But if you had to commit one of these transgressions, gifts to players is the least objectionable...mainly because the rule you're breaking in that case is arguably unjust itself.
