+1. Modern upgrades to the entire experience, beer garden, new concessions, bathrooms, and bring the stadium to 40k!

Don't forget the giant C. Montgomery Burns-style sunblocker up on the Ridges to keep the late afternoon sun from crisping the student side of the field

I would have no problem supporting the building effort and even chipping in a little money if it would be empirically proven that we might sell out more than just one game a year. Now, I have no doubt that if we found ourselves in the Top 25 year in and year out, we might be able to do it.

However, we barely sell out what we have. In addition, look at the Convo in the dead of winter with nothing going on in Athens and with more than just a few half decent teams in the last 10 years and we can't sell out a 12,000+ seat arena? When we do it is for some sort of parents or sibling weekend. Students and alums have lots of choices these days and it seems there aren't tens of thousands who share our passion or interest in walking a few minutes from the dorms to Pedan, or driving 1,2,3,4 or 5 hours to come to Athens.

We aren't alone, Akron, Toledo and Northern Illinois have substantially larger metro areas than Athens and they can't do any better than we in attendance figures. Toledo and and Northern Illinois have had some successful seasons and yet have they ever averaged anywhere near 40,000 a game in attendance in a much larger metro area than Athens? As much as I am the idealist in these sorts of matters, there does have to be some measure of reality thrown in the mix as well.

I thought it was a cable car/gondola system between Peden and the Ridges to facilitate RV tailgating.

The tower/post that holds the C.M.B.-style SunBlocker (sponsored by Montgomery Inn perhaps? sponsorship opportunity that should be investigated at the least) could serve as one terminus of the gondola/cable car, right?

Fiami 15,998 my ass.
Every game I have attended over there is lucky if it has 3K actually sitting in seats.

We haven't heard anything about a huge increase in season ticket sales this season so my guess is they've leveled off. Is it even possible to get 30,000 for a game at Peden? 26,000 for New Mexico St. following the Penn State victory. 27-28k possibly when UC comes to town but with Sook and the new bathrooms the stadium can handle a bigger SRO crowd. I said 10 years ago on here that with enrollment/alumni growth and they bypass Ohio would eventually be able to get more than 20,000 on a good day but now we've had that pop in ticket sales. Further growth is going to be driven by greater team performance and that is not a guarantee. Unlike L.C. though I'm fairly certain the dark days of football are over with the amount of resources the program has to work with these days.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
