Me to group of people in my living room: "See, Jason Candle made a smart move taking the delay of game there. The difference between a 25 and 30-yard field goal really isn't enough to waste a timeout on."

(Kicker misses field goal by inches on a kick that might've stayed inside the upright had it been five yards shorter)

Everyone in that room learned what ya'll already know: Don't trust Brian's opinion on anything.

With the amount of time left in the game,it didn't seem to make sense not to use the T.O.,especially since he only had one left.

Wonder how much grief the coach is getting on Toledo's fan board.

The announcer made the point that the coach iced his own kicker. I agree.

For some reason I thought Toledo had three timeouts, so the strategy made sense. Then I realized they only had one after the missed kick and the strategy really made no sense.

In hindsight, the priority should always be to secure the lead and then worry about everything else later.

There's a life lesson in there somewhere.

I remind of the excellent advice my brother (also an alum) gave me: "Hey, stupid, don't be incredibly stupid, stupid.

I believe this is true.

CMU takes a serious beat down 55-10. Yikes.

very disappointing. Do you think Tulsa was trying to defend the honor of their brothers in Stillwater, who are still whining (or Trumping, if you prefer) about the "grave injustice" they incurred earlier this season?

I just think that was a bad match-up for CMU. Tulsa is a delight to watch.

So, you're saying that quality/style of ball matter?

Oh, definitely, but I'm of the unpopular and wacky opinion that at the MAC level I'd rather go 8-4 and be exciting than be 9-3 and boring. I'm okay with 9-3 and boring, but I'd rather us chuck it 70 times a game and become a circus act. I'd be more than okay with it. I'd love every second of it.

I think style in some ways matters MORE than substance when it comes to building a program of the size of Tulsa or Ohio.

I also believe that all MAC teams should give up on defense and try to score 70 points a game, Texas Tech-style to rebuild the #MACtion brand. The entire country LOVED those Toledo-NIU shootouts of the last decade. They watched those games. The conference got away from that and it's lost its cache as a mid-week freak show oddity.

Recruit offense first. Tell high school QB's and WR's that they're going to play from Day 1 and get to chuck it 70 times and rack up video game numbers. Arena College Football.

And the chance of a Solich-led staff doing any of that wide-open, exciting, non-traditional stuff is ???

The guy who designed that offense is available. Sterlin Gilbert was part of Texas squad, before that he was at Tulsa and previous to that he was at Bowling Green.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes
