Interesting article on the status of the bowl oversight committee: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2017/01/03/few... /
It's intriguing that they're thinking about allowing a 13th game for bowl-eligible teams that don't get a bowl bid because the planned reduction in the number of bowls. I'm not sure about the logistics, especially if another shafted team winds up playing a true road game. And there's the scheduling issue of Army and Navy insisting that their game be showcased as the last of the regular season (which also would screw up any G5 playoff). A couple years ago, MTSU was bowl eligible but was shafted by the Sun Belt because they were moving to CUSA. At the same time, LaTech (which was also making the same move) stayed at home because they were trying to cut a deal for the Independence Bowl (I think) but couldn't finalize it before it was filled (by Ohio?). At the time I thought it would be great for the two to meet at a neutral site halfway between, like Oxford, MS. Not a bowl game; just a game. Maybe let the teams sell the TV rights to help defray costs.
We will get by. We will get by. We will get by. We will survive.
