As I said during the game, the same thing happens on this every year. We start off traditionally 3-1 because we had a scheduling structure that is soft due to padding wins. Then we get into MACtion, lose our games against the West, win the crap ones against the East. Proceed to go into mid-weeks, get curb-stomped in em, then win the last one because of miracles and the optimists tell the realists to can it because we win 8 games a year. We essentially play a schedule that makes everyone "feel good" after winning 8 and choking, which is what our goal has been in terms of scheduling wins. At some point, we've gotta realize that we do the same thing every year with the same exact ingredients. Year after year, we gripe about the QB's, the offensive line, and secondary. You'd think someone would say we have a problem with coaching and recruiting, especially since we can't seem to find a good QB. No offense, but no one exactly comes picking our coaches for bigger jobs and if someone wants to cite Lightner as an example, let me know how he's doing at Vanderbilt......just kidding.

I've said it for years: Albin is a festering sore on Ohio football.

I am right there with you. I honestly think we need to clean house, Solich included. I have stood by him for years, but EVERY year we always seem undisciplined at critical times. We just never live up to the potential and have lackluster offensive and defensive games FAR too often.

Bottom line is, we should NOT be losing to a Texas St. in our house.

No shame in losing to the Longhorns by two in overtime.

L.C.--Still not worried about the O-line or the quarterbacking?

Windham was actually reasonably okay. He was about as we've seen before--problems with accuracy.

Will he improve with playing time? If he doesn't, we are certainly limited.

Watching the game a few things stand out as chronic issues:

1.I've noticed for several years that we seem to suffer a defensive letdown right after we score.

2.We give up stupid penalties, usually at critical points in games.

3.We don't seem to have, for lack of a better word,"special" plays like Texas State used in O.T.

One positive I did see is that we never gave up.
A better snap on the last 2 point play and the game could still be going on.

Feel the same way and I also supported Frank. He has not won a league title and loses at most bowl games. He has been great for the program to get them where they are today but if he is unwilling to fire Albin then he must go. Plus, the mental errors, penalties and mistakes over the last couple of years in particular is on the Head Coach's shoulders. He is lucky that McDavis has his back. Hate to see such talent wasted.

It's not really fair to say we were undisciplined at CRITICAL times, if only because we were undisciplined the WHOLE DAMNED game

Excellent thread-within-a-thread. Alternate gag: "The Bobcats won today."

We just lost at home to the seventh-best college team in Texas. Whee!!

1. Houston
2. Texas
3. Texas A&M
4. TCU
5. Baylor
6. Texas Tech
7. SMU

I would argue 8-11 with UTSA, North Texas or Rice.

So, you're saying that we lost to a ranked team?

We gotta wait until November for the playoff committee to rank this esteemed group, but if I were to vote today this would be my standings

Everyone has a rank. Texas State may be ranked around 125, but it is a rank nonetheless

If you read the first bullet point in in his bio, which is published in our football program, it seems to explain a lot. This being the very first sentence, It should be about his greatest contributions.

"In the past nine seasons, Albin's offensive units rank No. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 on the Ohio all-time Top 10 single-season scoring list."

So, not being familiar with much OU football history, someone please tell me that those rankings weren't listed chronologically. If so, then I see an obvious downward trend. It appears that players are not developing under his tutelage.

Two of these three points have nothing to do with Albin.

What is the point of play action on 3rd and 12?

If that is based on total points it makes perfect sense because we played more games in those seasons. If it's average points per game, then that is a different story. PR machines are very good at putting their words together.

Are you kidding? That's the cornerstone of our offense! If we don't go play action on 3rd and 12, when it's 3rd and 6 in the redzone, and we're setting up for a field goal attempt, the defense might load the box and keep our RB from getting to the middle of the field!
