Yep, we're six weeks into the season and there are now several teams that have reached bowl eligibility. So it's time to start the annual vigil of bowl eligibility.

This weekend six teams became bowl eligible: Clemson, Mich, WMU, Wash, TxA&M, Bama

Ten teams have five wins and need only one win for eligibility: USF, Houston, Wake, Baylor, O$U, Neb, Boise, AZSt, Utah, Tenn

33 teams have four wins and need just two wins for eligibility: Navy, Memphis, Tulsa, NCSt, L'ville, FSU, VaTech, UNC, MiamiF, Pitt, WVU, Okla St, TCU, PSU, MD, Iowa, Wis, MTSU, ODU, SMiss, OHIO, Akron, Toledo, CMU, EMU, Wyoming, AFA, SDSU, Colo, Fla, Auburn, Ark, Troy. Georgia could get its fourth win this afternoon.

35 teams have three wins and need to win half or fewer of their remaining games to be eligible: UCF, Temps, UConn, Cincy, Tulane, BC, GaTech, Duke, Okla, KState, TxTech, Ind, Purdue, Minn, WKU, NTex, LaTech, Army, BYU, BSU, Colo St, Hawaii, Nev, Wash St, Stanford, USC, UCLA, Kentucky, Georgia, LSU, Miss, App St, GaSouth, Idaho, SBama. South Carolina could get its third win this afternoon.

So 84 teams are either eligible or need to win half or fewer of their remaining games to be eligible for one of the 80 bowl slots.

Same with Notre Dame. They'd need to go 4-2 just to get to 6-6.

6-6 gets a team a bowl game complete with participation medals. Thankfully I'm confident OUr team will do better than 6-6 so I don't have to feel like they got a participation medal.

This looks different than most years. I know EMU catches a lot of flack for being bad consistently. Congrats to them for a good season thus far. I hope they get an opportunity to go bowling (not at our expense though). They made over their uniform combinations, changed the field turf a different color, coined their stadium the "Factory" as hardwork for the motto. Kuddos to them for attempting to revive and rebrand. It even led to a high 3-star signee in Grissom as a dual-threat QB.

It's looking like this year is gonna be another year where under .500 teams are going to get in bowls because there is a shortage of teams. Then it's based on APR.

I agree. Too many bowls. There are multiple bowls games at the same location in some instances. That's stupid.

The Bowl Game situation isn't going away, or so it would seem. I just don't know how some of these bowl games make any money. I also have a hard time grasping how the TV networks make any money on the smaller bowl games.

Ideally, I wish we'd see a scenario where "Bowl Eligible" is changed to seven wins, so it means a little more. I know that probably isn't changing.
