We chose Homecoming as our first home game experience, my husband's first time in Athens and wants the full football experience starting first thing Saturday morning. What do you recommend? Where should our day begin...Where do we get the best tailgate experience? Is the parade worth watching?

Thanks for the input!

First, get to Athens EARLY to secure parking. By early, I mean 8:30am at the very latest. Aim to park at either Clippinger, or out by the hospital/physical plant, or across from the HDL center.

On homecoming, I'm pro-tailgating because of the bar crowds. But, if you've never done it, you absolutely must see the parade, in particular the 110 and the 110 Alumni. On Homecoming, I'd also recommend hanging around for the post game band show.

As for the post-game with the 110 and the 110Alumni it never ceases to amaze me that someone within the University make-up(Alumni association, Music Dept etc.) don't have the PA announcer a few times thru-out the game encourage fans to stay and watch the post-game show. For those that really enjoy the 110/110Alumni do the one number together at half-time the post game with both bands combined is really something to see and HEAR.

It was 2007 and my regular group showed in good numbers for that homecoming. A non-OHIO, non-college guy tagged along for the experience.

I recall him watching the dance moves of the alumni 110 at halftime and he turned to me with tears in his eyes and said, "That is one of the most awesome things I have witnessed at a sporting event! Look at some of those guys, how old they are, and still have all the moves!"

Great to be a Bobcat!
