Graces the cover of the September 19th SPORTS ILLUSTRATED!
"Why the Raiders' Sack Master is an exploding Star--And what the NFL can learn from it"

Who is the last MAC athlete to be solo on the cover?

Who is the last OHIO athlete to solo on the cover?

My guess for last Ohio athlete on the cover is Walter Luckett.

Mike Schmidt - multiple times after Luckett. Jack Lambert may have been the last MAC ('84 - after Darryl Dawkins '83)

I don't expect OHIO to come up with a football player like Mack. Dude was exceptional.

While he's an extreme example, he's the idea of what an All-MAC player looks like. The game may not entirely revolve around him but he's got to be accounted for on almost every play that he's in for. He makes the field tilt his way a bit in the way that Kenny Lofton made all defenders move a step to defend against his speed when he got on base for The Tribe. All-MAC's fast and closes in on, and is involved in, a lot of action. A difference maker.

We have one, maybe two guys like that from what we've shown on the field this year and the last few years.

If you think that this team has plenty of All-MAC first or second team players, well, we'll see...but I'm not convinced.

Wally Z had a pretty prominent cover when Miami made the sweet 16 in 99. He was definitely the focus of the cover even if not solo

It's funny how long ago that was, and how far away their football/basketball teams are from being that good right now.
