Look, Saturday was... well... its over. And, the second half and OT was exciting. There's that.

Here's stuff that happened that I'm intrigued by:

Windham with 45 attempts and no interceptions. 380 yards. 9 different receivers. And he ran 8 times for 37 yards. 2TDs in regulation, 4 overall. If you had told me all these stats were guaranteed before the game I would have been very, very happy.

Papi White. Oh my. If we won, that TD catch and run would have been legend. (And, shoulda scored on the first play as well.) Nice to have a pure gamebreaker threat on the field.

Irons with 62 rushing and 54 receiving. Nice. Keep progressing young man.

Zervos 4 for 5. Very encouraging.

Sebastian Smith grinding it out. Obviously injured. Hope he can recover to 100% quickly.

Speaking of Papi White, does anyone have a youtube clip of that play?

Windham would've had even better stats if the very first play wasn't dropped. That was a beautiful pass to start the season and a sure TD. Windham's fumble in the 4th was just devastating. The line between winning and losing is razor thin sometimes. Ohio needed either of those two plays to have a different result.

I've thought about that play, too, and how different the game could have been. If Ohio had made the most of that or any of the other first-half opportunities, Texas State could have been down 2+ touchdowns in the first half.

The block by Pruehs coming from the center position is a thing of beauty.

71 has contact from the side and then the Texas State player turns his back to 71. I would be interested in the opinion of an official. The thing I appreciate about this that 71 is 20+ yards downfield seeking this guy out. That block was his to make from the line of scrimmage. Contrary to SBH I think this is solid.

Have to agree with Bcat2. The TSU player turns away from #71 to dive at White's feet. This happens at the moment #71 is about to make contact. When his target turns away, #71 appears to fall over his target.

That is a clear block in the back penalty, great hustle, but that has to be called

You've got to be kidding to think that's not a block in the back. 71 REACHES OUT TO PUSH the dude.

I thought so when I saw it on replay on the live telecast.

It can be argued that it wasn't worth calling--which i disagree with. But if you don't think that's a block in the back, you are not watching that with objective eyes.

Very good hustle by #71, but c'mon!

Monroe, were you an official you would flag Ohio for taking the field. C'mon, by your standard a Texas State player could negate a great Ohio play by just diving in the way of an Ohio player to create contact from behind. Oh, Monroe, re: blocking, extending arms is allowed, safety, by making initial contact with the extended arms, blockers will be less tempted to involve their heads in the impact.

And if bcat2 was an official, he would award Ohio a 2-0 forfeit win every Saturday. "They've given their time and effort year-round for good ol' Ohio. They deserve a medal just for showing up."

Showing up? I am back to Wood, Gibbons, Lowery, Ben Russell, Ouellette, Sprague, etc.. Is that what you think these men do, just show up? Really? Just showing up, that would be what I get to do. How about you?

Intercept the ball but don't get a 15 yard penalty for throwing the ball at the opponent.

Yes, and the serious lack of discipline has been discussed. No excuses for that. What do you want done about it?

That was a definite illegal block and will draw the flag 100% of the time as it is a. Out in the open b. Was directly impacting the defender who is trying to Mae a play.

I know. It's amazing the bcat2, of the SFB, can look at that video and think it's anything other than a deliberate, reaching out act which could justify a flag.

I got this for you, bcat2. I'll answer for you:

Some irrelevant stuff about how our player struggle hard, are great guys, give a terrific effort and other things that could be said of any other program. Also, stuff about our are terrific no matter their record such as losing to a weak opponent as a 21 point favorite.

Also, lots of other stuff that's not true or irrelevant and that bespeaks total, sold-out lack of credibility and any ability to judge reasonably objectively.

I'm sure the coaches teach disciplined play so if the players aren't learning those lessons, they should be benched no matter what the sport or team. Sitting while others are playing often teaches very valuable lessons.

Well said. I would add that if we see repeated acts of indiscipline from a certain group that would be evidence that their position coach is not coaching his number one responsibility, discipline. I will not defend indiscipline, nor will I have the back of any player or coach who would make it a part of Ohio Football.

Now, apologies to Ohio69 for participating in yet another hijacking of his attempt to present a positive about good play.

Agree, Alan. And I'm not talking about only Ohio coaches. To me, any coach at any program should park a player on the bench for at least a series or two following such silliness as: taunting an opposing player, blocking an opponent in the back during a return when the block has no influence on the return, etc.

Why don't more coaches do so? Likely because they see too sharp a drop-off between the offending player and his sub.

Result of making the choice not to bench? More silliness.

Except this time.

As a scoring play, it was also automatically subject to video review, and the call on the field was not overruled. Especially considering the time on the clock, you would have to assume that the officials looked at the play very closely.
