How about Kentucky(after leading by 21 at halftime), Buffalo(yesterday),Iowa State, Virginia and Washington state all losing to FCS schools, Mississippi State losing to South Alabama, USC losing by 46 or whatever-they're still counting, and mighty Oklahoma losing to a G-5 school, CSU losing to Colorado by 37, etc. maybe it's not as bad as it could be, but I don't know.

Good point, good perspective.

There are many ways to find perspective that puts today's OHIO loss to Texas State in not such a bad light.

If you're the kind of person who'll believe anything and don't have a particularly balanced view of reality.

At some point, all the perspective and facts (years of horrid losses and no MACC) which I've been trying to make the SFB see really do make sense.

At some point, reasonable common sense brings the conclusion that what I've been trying to get you to see does make sense.

Phil Steele had Texas St ranked as the worst FBS school. We were favored by 21. I don't care who else lost this weekend, this was an awful loss for us.

Just arrived back home in Cincy after a really tough loss...

Solich is right...we let this team stick around and we did not put them away in the first half settling for field goals. Then, in my opinion we did not put them away when we took the lead. Each time we got ahead, they came back. More power to them.

I will say this as I have said it for years. We just can't recruit a top notch QB. Way too many passes that should have been easy throws and catches were high or behind guys. Then, a couple of good throws were dropped.

I will go back to recruiting MORE and BETTER players. We certainly did not dominate the line of scrimmage vs these guys so I doubt we will most of the year unless things get better real quick.

Haven't looked at stats yet but my guess is more of our TDs were gift wrapped by them like the kick off return fumble whereas they just moved the ball on us at will. Only time this wasn't the case was the first quarter where I think we had 150 yards or so but only 6 points.

My last comment...I am a 67 year old guy and I love sports but this is a young coaches game. Their new and younger coach pulled out all the stops (the trick play TD) and their kids were really excited once they settled into the game. They never gave up and you could see at the end of the game if you stuck around that they had great emotion. Our teams appear to reflect the coach and play flat and steady. It is a style but one I don't see as being that effective nowadays. I think Monroe and I have both said it, I think we have seen the best from this staff.

I know it is a long season but we better improve a whole lot from week 1 to week 2 and going forward or it will be a real long season we will all be ready to forget.

Here's how the SEC did against G5 schools in Week 1 (all were home games of course)

(W) 20-13, Tenn v App St- Vols need OT to beat Sun Belt team at home.
(W) 24-7, Florida v UMass- Gators only up by 3pts at start of 4th quarter.
(W) 21-20, Arkansas v La tech- Ark needs 4th quarter TD to come from behind.
(L) 44-35, Kentucky v SoMiss- Cats get outscored 27-0 in 2nd half.
(L) 21-20, Miss St v So Alabama- Miss St blows 17-0 half time lead.

and they supposed to be SEC.

as mentioned, we are far from being alone in our feelings today, but the loss stings nonetheless.

MY STATE. MY TEAM.
