The poor team showing horse has been beaten enough, so I was wondering if anyone else noticed how the scoreboard has changed. All the times I was shaking my head after watching the play on the field, I couldn't help but notice the video part of the scoreboard has become one big ad board, with very little of anything having to do with the game. It started to bother me last year when announcer would say, "Direct your attention to the scoreboard for the 'xxx' summary," and I would only see an advertisement and hear a verbal summary. At least we can still see the score and other relevant info there.

While I'm venting here, much of my career was spent concerned with the presentation of the 'product,' whatever that might be. Well, other than the team itself, in Peden, much of the product is the atmosphere, which includes all technical aspects. I was a little embarrassed to have such a poor 'presentation' to the visiting fans - and potential students/recruits - at Saturday's game. I'll start with the referee's microphone being heard only by the player standing next to him; that stuff should be checked and double checked before any fans are in the stadium. And the on-field personality for the various student games, dance-offs, etc., shouldn't have to compete with the PA music or whatever is being played/said.

And we all know how bad it looks (and really IS) having 95% of the students leave at halftime.

I'm an old guy from the class of 1970. My wife and I were students, as were two of my sons, including one being a 110 member. I love this place, and want nothing more than for it to look good and be all it can be in things that can be so easily controlled. Okay, enough for now.

Folks next to me were early 90's grads, I was '82. They had not been there in years, there with daughter who is now a Freshman. They were shocked at the student side exodus - virtually ENTIRE student side. I agree - nothing "atmosphere" wise would keep them there - the sound system sucks, video board is nothing but hokey ads - dudes rolling in sleeping bags is not entertaining, et al.....

Then add in the "No-Zone".....They can't even get the "OU/Oh Yeah" chant going this year.......And that new "First Down" - "Ohio" - well that new tradition did not really get much action ground until the second half......

Being down 14-6 to TX State at the half did not help either I am sure.
