Anyone who has the time should check out this small documentary series on Netflix called Last Chance U, which follows East Mississippi Community College's 2015 season. They were fighting for their 3rd straight national junior college championship.

You probably remember seeing them on SportsCenter for the wrong reasons. In their season finale, there was a huge brawl with the opposing team. They were suspended from the playoffs, where the eventual national champion ended up being a team they already beat by 30-40 points.

Fantastic documentary that really dives into the Junior College process. Saw a very, very, very small and quick mention of Ohio. One of the players/coaches was going through a stack of letters and I noticed one of the envelopes had the attack cat logo.

I agree. I watched the entire series over the last weekend. I caught that brief mention of Ohio as well. There are also a couple of Marshall players that make appearances throughout the series. A good series to watch in only one or two evenings.

I don't want to give anything away to anyone who hasn't seen it, but Auburn's new starting QB is in this movie and how he ends up getting to Auburn is mind blowing to me.

Saw the Ohio letter too. Also, JF3 says something like, "why does Ohio keep sending me stuff?" on that same episode when the players are opening mail.

I'll tell ya where we'll go. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talkin' bout a little place called... ATHENS.

HAHAHAHAHA Oh my I didn't even notice that part. I really hope Ohio would have taken a longer look at him and decided not to take him. He's an incredible athlete but he's a prima donna and a huge headache.

He also followed up the "why does Ohio keep sending me stuff?" line with "I ain't gonna go to your school" as he looked into the camera and then he tossed the Ohio letter in the trash and his teammate called Ohio something like "Tree killers" (in reference to them sending unwanted mail to JF3). I got a kick out of it.

It's also mind blowing how just about ANY of those guys got into any college, including EMCC! I want to start off by saying I loved the series, I found it very entertaining and insightful, but dear Lord are there some grown-ass babies walking around Scooba, MS! Pouting and fussy about simply having to go to class, skipping class after class, can't hold a conversation without burying their faces in their phones, etc. There's gonna be a huge wakeup call for a lot of those kids when real life reality sets in. But again, I loved watching the series and recommend it if you haven't seen it yet.

Finishing up this morning, I really enjoyed this show. Raw, uncensored look into junior college football. Couple points:

- You really shake your head a lot watching this wanting the kids to succeed and they can't get out of their own way. Sad to see kids quit and walk away the second they see an inkling of a problem.

- How does anyone watching this within the institution support that head coach? Treats his players poorly, runs the program with little integrity, and has a short fuse that gets himself and his team in trouble. I really hated him throwing the players under the bus after the brawl when he fostered that environment the entire season.

- The academic adviser is the glue holding that ship together. Seriously. She doesn't earn anywhere near enough money for the ends she goes to making sure those kids are doing what their supposed to be doing and staying eligible. Essentially a baby sitter for a lot of those kids.

I was pulling for many of those kids, but for crying out loud, how damn lazy some of them were about simply going to class or doing an assignment drove me nuts. It's college man! Grow a pair! You can run a 4.3 40 and bench 225 lbs 25 times, but yet you can't walk to class or lift a damn pencil??? They just want things served on a platter to them. I have little tolerance for people who won't help themselves. It's one thing to try and struggle, it's another thing to not try and want it all.

I don't think I'm going to watch this because I think it would just piss me off and sour me even more on college athletics.

After watching, I'll take Frank Solich and his leadership and recruiting yet lack of titles over Buddy Stephens with his questionable leadership, sketchy recruiting and many titles.

I just finished the first episode and I'm looking forward to continuing the series. This is the insider stuff I wish "Relentless" could have been. My wife is not a huge sports follower but she is early in her teaching admin masters program. I'm interested in showing the series to her and hearing her perspective.

What is sketchy about his recruiting exactly? He tells you straight from the get-go that he knows why players want to come there. All they want to do is play football, get their grades up high enough so they can qualify for a D1 school and be done with JUCO. As quickly as possible. It's not a hard sell.

Now, is he a bad head coach when it comes to leadership, mentoring, and other intangibles? Absolutely.

As one of the players said after the fight, 'You knew what you were getting when you recruited us.' What I meant is the caliber of student-athlete that he recruits. I love Frank's focus on the academic focus. Yes, I know the JUCO student is often there because he wasn't previously focused on academics, but I just find it refreshing that our athletes are also students.

It's a completely different situation (JUCO recruiting and D1 recruiting). They aren't going out recruiting highly educated students with 4.0s just looking for a chance to play some more ball. If they are, it's a small minority I bet.

Hopefully the coaches at Auburn teach him how to tuck the ball properly once you decide to run and not hold it out like a loaf a bread into the open field. If he does indeed start at QB their first game he will have his work cut out for him against Clemson!

Nah I doubt Auburn goes over ball security.
