Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

I saw a report that only three NFL teams attended. I'm not sure which ones, other than the Bengals (I saw the report on a Bengals fan site).

Ian Well put up numbers that would have put him in the top 3-5 of every single combine cornerback. He also had a best 41 inch vertical there is a video of it up on twitter its really ridiculous looking.

I understand there are only one maybe two pro prospects in this class but my goodness...AKORN had over TWENTY NFL TEAMS at their pro day. That cannot look good to some recruits. Just saying.

There have been complaints about the lack of quality of recruits and about the lack of winning lately in OHIO FOOTBALL.

While such as bcat2 would refute these notions, perhaps the number of NFL teams representing at OHIO FOOTBALL as compared to 'kron is somewhat indicative.

Of course, that's probably not true. Of course, pure reverence for our coaching staff is much more sensible.

Indeed, the players at pro day are the final lagging indicator. The players who were Seniors the last couple years were the ones recruited during the down years of 2010-2011. Thankfully the coaches could see the problem long before we, as fans, saw it, and it was addressed long ago. Since 2012 the recruiting classes have improved every year, which is why the teams are improving every year now.

Obviously there is a several year lag between recruiting and team performance, and between recruiting and who you have at pro day.

Given Akron's recent success against Ohio, that's really no surprise.

Oh, wait, sorry, we've beaten them eight straight times.

Position wise, Wells 4.38 40 would have been 5th best at combine. His 11.4 broad jump would have been number 1. His 41 inch vertical would have been number 3. What a great showing! Vick ran in the 4.5's which is pretty impressive, I could not find any other numbers for the other players.

L.C.--That makes sense....Until you view the actual results on the field. The 'since 2012' group has been here three years. I get that not many see the field in their first year with. But what about the last two years--which have not been good?

And, if those better recruits don't see he field (er, Irons, perhaps...)....

Solich labeled the 2013 class as his best yet, then labeled 2014 as better still, and 2015 was at least as good as 2014. Players make their greatest contribution in their junior and senior years. Given that some players play as true freshman, and others red shirt, a recruiting class will have its biggest impact in the fourth year (some juniors, some seniors), with lesser impact the third year (some juniors, some sophomores) and fifth years (some seniors, some gone).

Looking at specific football seasons:
2014: minimal impact from 2013-2015 classes
2015: lesser impact from 2013 class
2016: greatest impact of 2013 class, lesser impact of 2014
2017: lesser impact of 2013, 2015, greatest impact of 2014
2018: lesser impact of 2014, greatest impact of 2015

Based on this logic, and looking at the recruiting, 2014 was a rebuilding year, 2015 was starting the next up cycle, and 2016 and 2017 should be substantially better. If Ohio is going to get your MACC, these are the years for it to happen.
