Again I am here with a request for a premium (yes I am willing to pay to limit who I interact with) blocking feature. Twitter offers it for free. Not sure why this board compels me to sort through piles of negative in order to find the news and information I need to follow the team.

Ryan did the development on this forum, and did a great job. Unfortunately he doesn't have the time to spend to continue developing it to add significant new features, so we need to accept that it is what it is, and be thankful it is here at all. A couple years ago he had to disable the code that allowed you to post graphics and such, because he didn't have the time to update it to work with google chrome. It was a loss, but the forum still do serve their core function.

Talk about a new level of absurdity! C'mon....it's a message board. People are going to have differing opinions. Some super negative...some overly positive. If all you want is all-positive all the time...start your own board. Until then, let the chronic complainers complain and let the Suzy Sunshines glow......

We're all here because we are Ohio Bobcat fans. We don't have to be robots and have all the same thoughts on here. If you don't like the negativity, just ignore it and move on. No one is forcing you to interact with people that have a different view than yours.

Really? You sound just like the guys who only watch fox or msnbc. Open your eyes to the reality of the world - there are differences of opinion.

Is scrolling that taxing on your index finger?

I guess there's a desire for fair and balanced in this forum too.

When I was younger I used to get angry when people disagreed with me. Post 21, I realized that people will disagree and even though they may disagree, it is not always personal. It's a part of growing up, you have to learn how to agree to disagree. None of us are God, we cannot and should not try to impose our will on anyone.

Everyone. has allen just implied that I am "angry," that I need "growing up," that I think I am "God?" Did he just imply that in wishing to screen whose posts I read I am imposing my will on others? A little help here, please.

I'm sure allen's heart is in the right place. But it came off to me as well that he was trivializing your request.

For the reasons L.C. referenced I don't think we can realistically expect an ignore feature.

But I can relate Bcat, scrolling past comments from the same person every single time does not effectively replace an ignore feature. And when people suggest the scroll as the solution I also find it patronizing.

There's a reason the phrase out of sight out of mind exists.

Maybe Bcat2 is on to something. However, I'm not sure which is worse. Having to read the negative posts Bcat2 wants to ignore? Or reading all of Bcat2's posts about how everything having to do with Solich and Bobcat football has been, is, and always will be perfect?

I'm sure some would ignore one group, some the other, and others still both. That's how it is supposed to work.

I note that, on other issues, Alan supports things that might lead to more responsible posting. A point that I think he misses is that the presence of an ignore feature also serves this purpose. Since people know that if they push too far, they will get ignored, and then have no one listening to them anymore, people tend to behave somewhat more responsibly when an ignore feature is present. It's not a panacea, of course, but nothing is. The implied threat that if a person goes too far, too often, they may lose their audience is the primary benefit, however, not the savings in scrolling.

Realistically, however, the only way this will happen is if the day comes when BA scraps the existing software, and purchases "forum software" that already includes this feature.

You don't know how much it would be worth to me to have the BA information without certain opinion. How much might it cost? Some act as if this is uncommon. Twitter anyone. Or is it a matter of the post count/views generated by constant bickering?

If personal attacks are off limits on BA.com, then this thread is too much. The shots at Bcat2 are puzzling to me. He supports the team. So what? That's not so offensive, is it? To me, he is not the polar opposite of Monroe, because Bcat2 is not campaigning for anything, at least nothing obvious to me. He just sees the bright side. For whatever reason, that really grates some of you.

Now I see LC's point about the advantage of an ignore feature, and it's an interesting angle. The crap that some folks sling around here would likely be more controlled if people posted under real names. Since that ain't happening, it would be nice to have some other way of tempering bad behavior. Would an ignore feature help to do that? I have my doubts, but maybe.

But, Monroe posts under his real name, so that's not an issue. His only issue is beating-a-dead-horse-endlessly-and-forever. Is that a pain in the arse? Absolutely. Is it worth Ryan spending time and money fixing? Probably not.

...

The reason why many sites have an ignore feature is that they have no particular downside, other than the expense to develop them, and they do have some benefits. My observation at other sites is that "griefers" (people who post primarily for the purpose of annoying others) become more well behaved, bullying decreases significantly, and people who beat a dead horse tend to beat it less often.

All this is irrelevant because BA has no development budget. If Ryan were going to do development work again, I'd rather he put the effort into getting the site capable of posting pictures, gifs, different fonts, etc, again.

Sadly, there's not. Other than Jason Arkley and some hit-and-miss BobcatTV stuff online, you're out of luck.

But if you want to take you ball and go home....no one is stopping you.

I find this entire thread laughable.

It's. A. Message. Board.

What do you think goes on in these things? People disagree...people argue...people are stupid...people are smart.

If you can't handle sifting thru all that for your valuable information....then don't come around.

Said it before and will say it again...who in their right mind takes anything said on a blog like this as the gospel or personal? The diversity is what makes it interesting. If we all said the same thing it would be boring. Nobody saying anyone has to read or post anything on here. So, if you don't like it go to some other board for fun. Time to get over it and grow up...

yeah bcat don't take anything a person says to you on here personally. After all they're just a person communicating to you, another person...

Oh wait. In that case you would be in your right mind to take it personally.

He supports the team may be the biggest understatement ever. There's reasonable discourse, then there's allegiance that is over the edge.
