NIU gets Ohio off their schedule. I favor Ohio in 9 of the 12, picking Ohio to upset BGSU and grudgingly becoming a believer in the one that gets away, CMU. So 9-3.

Not a bad MAC schedule, other than @Toledo on five days rest. Awesome that @Miami is the first conference Saturday game. Let's take over Yager!

Great schedule from a potential win/loss record and a legitimate chance to play in Detroit. An absolutely horrible home schedule from a fan standpoint. Only Eastern and BG at home on October Saturdays (I bet Eastern is HC) and then not another home Saturday game after October 15 and really only one other home game after that at all. The Akron game and senior night is a Tuesday night after the dorms close. That said, a legitimate chance to make Monroe's ultimate dream come true is worth it, I guess.

It looks like Homecoming will either be Oct. 8 or 15. Just booked refundable hotel rooms for both weekends to beat the masses.

The Toledo game will be a challenge since we have not won there for a very long time. I did not check, but I believe that our last win in Toledo was 1967. Time for that to change!! I do like the schedule and I hope BGSU is the Homecoming game.

Looking forward to attending homecoming for this first time in a while this year!

Will be introducing OUcats82 Jr. to Athens.

May not work for all of you (and I am assuming it's all males on here) but I mentioned my desire to come to HC this year to my wife after she came home from shopping most of the afternoon. My timing was definitely intentional ; ).

Homecoming officially set for October 8 against BGSU. I booked the Days Inn on Columbus Road for $142 total for October 7-9.

If the weather is nice on October 8th, we'll be 4 and 1 and I bet the place legitimtely sells out unless someone decides to jack up ticket prices too high.

I have to agree with Alan that the home schedule doesn't have much excitement. First 4 home games are lame. TSU and G-W yawners. EMU is terrible and BG is decimated by coach and player defections.
By the time the last two mid week home games are played, most will opt to watch on TV or ignore.
Which of these home games deserves 7 hours of round trip windshield time to watch in person?

What would you pay for two nights at a nice hotel in Athens for Homecoming? I may have a deal for you.

Man, are all the decent hotels already gone? Just got in at the Holiday Inn Express for the two October games at a rate of more than $200 (after taxes). Can't believe the OU Inn, Hampton Inn and Fairfield Inn are already booked.

Or perhaps they hold back rooms until they see the football schedule has been released?

If the Akron game has something riding on it and the weather is not completely horrible perhaps there can be an ok turnout. Especially since some think Akron may be a contender in the east this year. Perhaps that's why is was scheduled at the end? Just spitballing here.

Non Saturday game-

THURSDAY 10/27 @Toledo
THURSDAY 11/3 vBuffalo

TUESDAY @CMU
TUESDAY vAkron

Odd that 2 MACtion games are on Thursdays. The home opponents aren't the most exciting but the dates aren't bad. Is there really much of a difference playing the last game of the season 2 days before Thanksgiving vs playing it the day after? And a Thursday game is more like what the "real" conference play, right?

It sucks that we play at Kent and at Toledo just five days apart, and that Toledo has two home games during that stretch. Usually a team will play one home and one road in a short turnaround week. Gives Toledo a decided edge.

I expect the best we can hope for is 6-2 in the MAC and 9-3 overall (losses to Tenn, BG and Toledo), which is pretty good. I'll take that most any year. Realistically, I think it'll be more like 8-4, 5-3 (with maybe CMU being a loss). Having our three toughest East opponents (BG, Buff and Akron) at home helps.

C'mon--get on your game: where are the complaints about 3 games in 13 days kents, Toledo (FATMAN), Beefaloe.

I'm sure this sched isn't final and that if we gripe enough it will be changed to accomodate our genuine, legitimate and strong complaints.

Does this schedule look like a MACC?

How are people complaining about this schedule? This schedule was tailor made for a great season and a MACC appearance. I don't think another team in the MAC wouldn't want this schedule. Three very winnable home games in the non conference, the top MAC East teams in BG, Akron and UB have to come to Athens with cakewalks to Miami and Kent State. If Ohio doesn't get to Detroit with this schedule then people have reason to complain. Otherwise, shut up and sit back and enjoy the ride to the MACC.

I am always concerned about the injury bug.
If we can finally have a year where injuries are not a big factor then I truly believe we could have a record breaking year. We have enough pieces returning on both sides of the ball to make it a year to remember.

While the rest of the schedule is fine, it's easy to complain about playing 3 games in 12 days, and especially about playing 2 games in 5 days, both on the road. That's just not right for a number of reasons. It takes time to recover from the stresses of a game, and playing too soon puts players at risk of injury. Toledo was going to be the hardest game anyway, and playing it on the short week, on the road makes a win all that much more difficult. It just means that the Bobcats can't afford to stumble anywhere else. Hopefully they can get up on Kent early, and go deep into the roster, but unfortunately Kent usually seems to be a close game.

I will say this, because everything else has essentially been said:

For a person buying season tickets, albeit, just a family pack, it's another year where in a lot of ways, my football season ends about the time basketball starts. I don't get to see a single weekend game after mid October. Home basketball games start up on the second Saturday of November. Once the hoops exhibition comes, I tune football out to a certain degree.

Just my two cents, but the MAC really needs a better solution to this mid-week MACtion so that schools get at least one Saturday home game after October 15th.

For me, first and foremost, football season has become Tailgating Season, and a reason to come to Athens for a nice fall day. The game is just an extra way to spend the time. Part of my opinion is fueled by being a bigger basketball fan, than football fan, and I acknowledge that. The other parts include my annoyance of this scheduling, followed by my general disdain for how college football is run in terms of the championship and bowl games. All that said, the MAC would get more of my interest if I was able to have a decent Saturday in November to go see a game.

OUC, I agree with you 100% :)

Even though I usually get to one of the week night games (from cincy), College FB should be played on Saturdays. End of story. And, I'd much rather make that drive earlier in the night. Arriving home at 2 or later sucks!

At least getting out of the Peden lots on those mid-week nights is no trouble at all.

I'm sure all of the aforementioned hotel proprietors would support that, too.

I'm not against mid-week MACtion at all. It's done absolute wonders for our program and league in terms of exposure. But it's gotten to the point that ALL conference games end up on Tues/Wed now. That's not good in my opinion. Take two primo matchups from each week and stick them on Tues/Wed, and let the remaining 4 conference games each week be on Saturday.

I'm not gonna play the "I won't renew my tickets" card because of this either. I still have a great time with the 3-4 games I can get to. I just find it to be personally annoying, and it affects my interest once late October comes.
