"Lembo decided to make the move after dealing with frustration after years leading one of the most under-resourced programs in the MAC."

He was Ball State's highest paid employee, ahead of university president Paul Ferguson, whose salary is $450,000. Lembo's starting salary when he was hired in 2011 was $350,000. He received a contract extension and was named associate athletic director in March of 2014, after leading Ball State to three consecutive years of bowl eligibility.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Winter comes and asks how you spent your summer.....

The game loves and rewards those who love and reward the game

He must have thought he had reached a dead end at BSU and could not have taken them any further. This doesn't seem like a step up. I'm sure he's making more $ as the Asst. Coach at Maryland but the cost of living is probably more too, so how much of a financial net gain is it really?

Let's face it, he was 3-9 after 5-7 last year. He probably figured a few years at Maryland are worth more than another year or two at Ball State. Like I said, the arms race is escalating. This makes 2 MAC head coaches in two years who have taken assistant jobs at P-5 schools rather than stay in the MAC.

He shouldn't have any trouble making it in Maryland making $500,000 plus so I don't feel real sorry about a higher cost of living there. Should be able to put a few bucks away for the future.

My goodness this doesn't speak well about Ball State, let alone the MAC (though most won't immediately come to that conclusion.) Think about it, Coach Lembo doesn't leave for a coordinator position at a power program, but a bottom dwelling Big Ten team. As was stated, it doesn't speak well about what he thought his ceiling would be for the Cardinals, or his paycheck.

I guess he's motivated by one thing: Cold Hard Cash.

I wonder if Brady Hoke has any interest in returning or if BSU would pay him enough to make it interesting to him.

It'll certainly be sticker shock for him; median home price in Muncie is about 60k; in College Park it's $287k. And they're not very big -- 3 br, 1-2 baths.

BSU hasn't really been competitive in the MAC the last couple years, either. 4-4 in '14; 2-6 this season. At least he didn't wait until August to jump ship like Enos did. Not sure MD will be any better; it's historically a b-ball school, so the money issue likely won't be much different.
