Ridiculous. 8-4 last year and 10 wins the year before (when they smoked us). Lost all their offensive weapons this year and lost 4 games by a touchdown or less. Plus had multiple wins over NC State, UNC, Va Tech and their in conference rivals during his 6 years.

I'm wondering if the powers that be realized that their OC who is now at Oklahoma was more responsible for their success in the past that the head coach. I haven't researched when he got there at ECU or how their offense was this year.

Anyway, much of this is madness. Much like the Fire Frank contingent here.

Lincoln Riley was with Ruffin at Texas Tech on Mike Leach's staff.

When the administration decided not to take interim tag off McNeill after all that Leach/Craig James nonsense....McNeill took head job at his alma mater, ECU.

Riley followed as the OC with McNeill at ECU.

They are probably going to make a run at Lincoln Riley, especially with the success they see coming out of Memphis, Navy, Houston and Temple. They need to score points to compete.

Record versus Power 5 was pretty good for the past three years:

2015: 1-1 (lost by 7 to Florida)
2014: 2-1 (lost by 10 to South Carolina)
2013: 2-1 (lost by 5 to Virginia Tech)

They better have some kind of plan in the works already.

Not sure Riley would come back under those circumstances. McNeill did him a solid bringing him to ECU and besides they both rode Carden's success at QB - so hard to dismiss HC and QB and give all the credit to Riley (though he will move on from OU shortly I'm sure). Raw deal. Folks here (Charlotte huge ECU grad country) not sure if there is more to story or not.
