Can someone explain to me why Akron is in 2nd place when we both have the same conference record yet Ohio has the better overall record? Same circumstance is present with Toledo in the West division.

Depends on where you look. Some have teams listed alphabetically if there are ties. But others use overall records: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/standings . I'm not sure that any of them look at head-to-heads, since that would take too sophisticated computer programming for them.

Because they are 4-2 in the East, maybe? We didn't get UMass While they did.

It could be a case of holiday help, or an Akron alumn, at the MAC website. The first tiebreaker where two teams have played is head-to-head. Divisional results only are relevant if the two teams didn't play. http://www.mlive.com/broncos/index.ssf/2015/11/mac_footba...

There are no tiebreakers for second place. The teams tied for second, and that's it.
