I feel good about this. Partially as a relief after another one of those late season skids. But 7 wins with a chance at 8 seems about right for this team...

That said, I'm all in for the game next week against NIU. Let's get 8 wins.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

A victory over NIU would be partial redemption for the huge margins of loss in the 3 game slide.
NIU is probably as strong as WMU and perhaps BG. Buffalo was mostly on Vick's pics.
If our defense is intact and no major players are unavailable it will be a test of the theory that the loss of Poling and others was to blame for the blowouts.

Indeed would be a sweet victory to end the season. With a respectable bowl win 9-4 would soothe some BA'ers here.

For whatever reason, Ohio has always matched up better against NIU than some of the other West teams. TeamRankings gives Ohio a 13% chance of a win at NIU, but I think it's a bit higher than that.

Some yes . . . others are not going to be soothed by anything. They have their agendas and they will stick to them. It might silence them for a few days, but they'd be back here with their agenda-driven mantras soon enough.

+1

A 9-4 finish would soothe a little...but as you said, won't erase that dreadful 3-game stretch.

I agree...I'd love to see a fully healthy defense (and offense for that matter) vs. NIU. Would love to get a feel on whether that 3-game stretch was kind of a fluke...or just more of what we've seen the last four years.

As I said in a different thread...this is a huge litmus test for the program. Beating up on Kent/Ball is one thing...but translating that to a team like NIU is another.

So then, let's get this party started! Who is your QB next week? I am already on record as being a Sprague fan and his coming out last night opened some additional eyes, I'm sure.

I like a healthy Sprague running our "normal" offense as opposed to a hobbled Vick because we need all the weapons we can get at NIU.

I like a healthier OL holding the pocket and opening lanes I could run through. Absent Lowery the OL is still finding some swagger. Add good blocking from the receivers and the pieces are coming together. Vs NIU, as last year, it will be key for the front to contain a beast of a RB. Bouagnon leads the MAC and is a load who can give NIU the "run the ball" aspect of "RTB-STR-WTG."

Vick was really hobbling around. I would be very surprised if he was healthy enough to play next Tuesday.

NIU is just like Kent and Ball State, unfortunately Kent's defense and Ball's
offense. I think we can do it. We beat them the last time we traveled to DeKalb. No one thought we would stop Garret Wolf.
