Is this where you go to find the frozen tundra?

Nah. That'll be NIU just before Thanksgiving. It may actually be decent football weather there next week; they say no rain and highs near 70 and lows in the 50s midweek.

Them-many touchdowns
Us-few touchdowns

A clear demonstration of what championship play/scheme/coaching looks like will be on display and it will be wearing orange and brown.

I will be the first in line to the all you can eat crow buffet if this is proven otherwise (and in my heart I hope it will be, but my head knows better).

Ah, if the commercial said "frozen parking lots" I'd have pictured EMU, but Dekalb must be where the tundra is.

Winter can come mighty early in that part of the country. Back in the day I helped broadcast a HS game in NW Indiana in late Oct when it snowed throughout with wind chills in the 20s. The press box had been wiped out by a tornado earlier in the year, so we had to call the game from atop open scaffolding. My knees locked from being frozen. Either last year or in '13 NIU played a Nov home game with temps around freezing and chills near zero.

Sounds pretty brutal! It has always amazed me how large an impact the Great Lakes can have on the region. I remember going to the MAC basketball tourney in Cleveland back in 2000. I left Athens with a group of guys in t-shirts and 60 degree temps around lunch time. Got to Cleveland and it was in the 30s with snow on the ground.

GO BOBCATS

My excitement level for this game is not high.

If we can restore our running attack, maybe it won't be so bad?

I still don't think we have a bad team. And we're due for a pleasant surprise.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

A win in this game would be the greatest MAC upset for us since we tied BG 10-10 at BG in the Lichtenberg era. I was there. It sucked.

1990, and I believe Marchant missed a chip shot FG for the win. Of course our all MAC kicker transferred to Michigan State that year because the special teams coach would not let him kick barefoot.

Good to read in the Athens News that Sprague is getting reps and may be ready Wednesday. We need all the weapons we can get. http://www.athensnews.com/news/sports/with-week-off-cats-...

I hope the headline-writer's use of the term "fine-tuning plays" for BG is the paper's term and not the coaches'. We need to put the running game up on the rack for a complete overhaul.

Memphis beat BGSU, 44-41, with a huge advantage, 13 min, in TOP. Memphis still needed to score 44 to get the job done as Lewis' 3 TD receptions went for 62, 94 & 62 yards. Somehow you have to contain Lewis.

I'm not sure how JD Sprague is going to help us win. He's a worse QB than Vick. Vick is totally fine at QB if he gets ANY help from RBs/O-Line.

Run the ball effectively....that opens passing lanes for Vick.

Sprague is NOT the answer.

I agree about JD. I think it's great that he could earn a scholarship and I love his attitude but come on, what does it say about the state of our program that we're excited about a former walk-on to come back and split time with a starter who, aside from last week, was tearing it up. And I agree, Vick doesn't throw all of those picks if we had an semblance of a run game. We need one back to do the heavy lifting and it's AJ. He must be in the doghouse for some reason because Daz is not the answer. Papi wasn't the answer every down.

JJ Watt was a walk on..... I guess if we had him we shouldn't be excited by him.

Couple of things that are always true in sports: Everyone loves the back up and the assistant coach. ;-)

While I think JD is a little behind Vick in overall accuracy, his accuracy seemed to have markedly improved this season and he's a very effective runner and is good at moving the pocket and extending plays. how big is that when you consider that our offensive line has been, frankly, a bit of a flop this season. If he's 100% healthy, I'd like to see what he can do. I've always thought his upside was higher than Vick's. If our offense is so predicated on having a mobile quarterback, and right now our starter isn't mobile, then it seems to make sense that the mobile one gets a chance. is it because of our amazing offensive productivity lately that you want to stick with the status quo?

Last year vs BGSU Sprague accounted for 374 of Ohio's 500+ yards. Sprague can get it done. The issue as Ouellette so aptly put it is execution. Not the scheme, not the play calling, the execution. The throws have to be made, blocks made, catches made, runs finished. Oh, and somehow Lewis has to be contained.

I've never been disappointed or disheartened to see JD in the game. Any game. Any situation. I see desire and guts. Otherwise, he wouldn't be coming off the "IR" now.

Me, either. When he's allowed to play his style of game, he reminds me of T2 early in his Ohio career.
