The below assumes that a player is not a discipline problem. If a player is a discipline problem, then he should not play (instead of playing only in garbage time).

We see to have two camps here.

One is the camp that wants the best players to play. Period. As a member of this camp, I also think that players know when a player is clearly better than his peers and, so are dis-spirited when the clearly better player doesn't play. Let's call this team O. Or, team W. This seems to follow a capitalistic/business model in which the best talent rises.

The other camp seems to think that experience/seniority is a significant factor in who should see the field. So, players with distinctly better talent pretty much have to wait their turn to play. Let's call this team S. Or team L. It seems dogged by favoritism.

It appears--see the last 35 games or so--that we are a team S/L.

Should we continue this way? Should our next coach be an S/L type?

It says "OHIO" on the uniforms, so which type team do you want to see in that uniform.

Actually, as with many stances, there is a third camp that is not either, or. This third camp understands, as in business, that experience, while not trumping potential is critical to success. We will call that team M for Monroe. Just because the other letters already assigned are about as appropriate as this one.

Team is lacking spirit. To attribute that to Irons (or is there another player you have in mind) not playing is a bit of a self-serving argument.

Whether it's seniority-itis or something else, we just use the wrong RBs in the wrong situations. AJ up-the-middle works pretty well while Daz or Papi up-the-middle generally doesn't, but we continue to go back to the stuff that doesn't work. It seems that we're hell-bent on keeping a RB in for an entire drive (except for empty backfield downs), regardless of the situation. We're personnel-oriented instead of situation-oriented.

Agree - it is as much about application.

Monroe, It's obvious you want changes made, but your approach is way off base. You have been telling us about business models and the world of business as absolute reasons to make changes in our coaching staff. You sound like our football philosophy is flawed and there are opinions on here that I can agree with. But, you also make it sound like business is not flawed. I will argue all day that business models are not pure. People are hired everyday in business by who they are, not whether they are the best for the job. People are fired everyday who are much better at their jobs than those retained because of various reasons that the boss doesn't like. How many like the way VW has been doing business, for example? How many are impressed with the business models sending our jobs elsewhere for lower costs, depriving Americans of jobs. Just a couple examples of why you should let it go! There is no one that reads this board that doesn't understand where you are coming from. Leave it at that! I feel like I could go on and on, but won't as I hope I've made my point.

Lande71--I 100% agree with you about businesses about never hitting the ideal. The best that one can hope for, generally, is enlightened and dedicated leadership.

To extend that 'normal business circumstances' comparison: Be it for a college with football aspirations of any substance or a prominent and responsible company, the CEO for Ohio football would have been loooooong gone by now. So many quarters (years) of quite bad performance is simply not tolerated.

What will it take to get a new CEO of designspiritusa.com?

The public wants answers. We demand a better product.

Some of us expect more out of our travel pet products.

I expect a resignation letter by Monday or else I'll incessantly post about the last 35 fiscal weeks of apathetic performance.
