In those 11 games OU defense has averaged giving up 11 pts/game. In the three games Poling was out it was 51 pts/game. The competition played into that, but it is clear the D has a completely different personality when he is in. With Poling, Balls and NIU are winnable. And, of course, he just limped off the field... He was smiling on the sidelines. I totally agree, though, that he's makes a huge difference. He told the staff that he needed to run more QB draws to keep the defense honest. Won 1 on 1 matchups with the running backs. We are a different defense when he is on the field.Fantastic instincts and a great tackler. Amazing how he steps in for those picks. The instincts, awareness, and physicality are so impressive. Really fun Bobcat to watch. Devin Jones was also exceptional at corner today. What a day at the Convo.....Wow! Ohio had one more day of rest, so it wasn't as uneven as it might have been. Mark me down for that comment. This young man is a special talent. Reminds me a little of Zach Thomas. Always around the ball, physical, lateral quickness and instinct. You could call out 3-4 obvious plays only he could have made. However, there were more like 6-8. The Bengals have Burfict who brings the same impact (at the NFL Level). Really has a feel for the play calling and always being around the ball. The Bengals only gave up 10 points/game with Burfict healthy. I don't know what that stat translates to for us but it feels like he has that kind of impact.
