Our first team defense needs to hit the first two days of practice, because they don't tackle well. Some wise butt is going to say no team hits during the week in defense of the coaches and my answer is yes they do, especially when a team is not tackling. We also need better safety play, you have to take good angles and make tackles. Way too many explosive runs.

That seems to be a weakness of this new Cover-4 defense. They stop most runs for no gain, but if they get by the first defenders, the safeties are out of position and the corners are focused on wide receivers, and the result is a long run.

No team goes full contact when they are depleted with injuries like this Ohio team is. Much less in the middle of their season this isnt hs football where you just let the kids go at each other and see who is left standing. Thats pure ignorance.

And another long run.

And another.

And another.

And another.

But at least our staff has been together 11 years and we held Akron and Miami without a td.

They missed 28 tackles in the second half. You have to let your first team tackle the scout team when this happens. They are not hitting and wrapping. The only sound tacklers I see is the linebackers. Rewatch the second half and you will see what I am talking about.
