I don't know if this is posted anywhere else.

I see that O.U will be streaming the Homecoming Parade.

Nice way for those of us who can't get to Athens to still feel part of Homecomeing.

Of course there's always "kegs and eggs' for breakfast on Saturday.

Yes, I too thought this to be a nice upgrade to keeping people involved in our university and these type of activities. I would be curious to see if there was some way to measure the number of viewers?

Isn't it ESPN Game Day that everyone wants to come to their home game to create a hullabuloo frenzy?

Isn't there some way to create our own Game Day experience with an announcer set, the Most Exciting Band In The Land, etc? I'm surprised more schools don't aim for this...for local excitement if nothing else.

Where's the band?!

The weather is supposed to be perfect tomorrow for the parade - a brisk fall morning. Now if we can just get the powers that be to put the parade back on Court Street everything would be fine. This year's route is like a maize.

I'm planning "kegs & eggs" from a tailgate lot...minus an actual keg.

I'm going to boycott it until they come down College Street like back in the day and/or until the quality of the floats is even half as good as they were 30+ years ago. The last time I attended the parade I was actually embarrassed by the poor quality of the floats. Three sorority girls on a flat bed truck is not a float.

I only go to the parade for the 110 and the alumni band. They could cut the rest out and I'd be more than happy. The other stuff is superfluous.

I think the reason the ESPN Game Day creates such a reaction is because it is limited to 1 school and once a season.

If O.U. had a version of it for every home game, after a while it wouldn't be "special".

They do a pretty good job at Tailgate Park, including when the 110 plays.

It's only one school once a week per season and it's on national television. That last part is where the frenzy comes from. Everyone wants a shot at being on national tv so that's how the crowds on them swell.

The opposing team sucks!

This year there weren't floats, just banners. Plenty of businesses and candidates. An awful lot to endure between bands.

My parents were Ted's landlord back on South Street in the late 70's, early 80's when he was teaching in Columbus. He used to drop off his rent check to our other business I worked at while I was earning my beer, book and rent money for college.

I decided not to march in the Alumni band this year due to the stupid parade route. It's the first time since my first Ohio Homecoming in 1987 that I've ever watched the parade. It was eye opening from the fact that McDavis and his handpicked parade consultants did not seek input from the Active or Alumni bands on the parade route either when the parade was moved in 2012 or this year. Yet, the bands are clearly the features of a parade made up of mainly student organizations walking behind a bed sheet they drew some 'theme' on. I did enjoy the Singing Men of Ohio and maybe a couple other groups did some entertaining, but mostly just watching people walk by.

They clearly put the active band at the beginning and alumni band at the end to avoid people skipping out on the rest of the parade. I really think it's sad that the bands have had no say in the parade route changes, yet they are pretty much the features of the parade. I'd kind of like to see where the parade would be if the bands just said, "No..we're not marching that." and then organize with uptown businesses to put on their own shows.

Considering that it appeared to be the largest alumni band ever, with some players not even having instruments(!), I'd say the route change was not a major consideration. I fully support what McDavis is trying to do. I saw some atrocious behavior a few years ago by students outside the bars on the lower portion of Court Street. Regarding the parade content, it was pretty boring, and I thought the Marching 110 was very subdued (almost boring). In fact, I thought their show at halftime was less entertaining than any I've seen in a long time. Different director?

I think Monroe has a great idea here. Why not? Create "Bobcat Gameday", with Russ and Rod. Limit it to one time per year, per town, but make it live on the radio. One time in Athens, once in Nelsonville, once in some other towns, and even to towns further away, and towns which Ohio has recruits from would be good choices. Maybe make it 2 to 3 hours before the game so the can get back to Athens in plenty of time.
