Basham could be out a few weeks..Jovon Johnson really wanted to play in the big Minn game but not healthy cannot plant or run with injury. Vick is questionable this practice week will tell us a lot. Moore needs surgery on his thumb kid broke it but went back in the game and continued to play. Luckily Ohio has some depth as the younger guys have some game time but anymore injuries to key player could be fatal for a MACC run.

As I stated in a separate thread, this was the worst-case scenario: a close-but-no-cigar loss with injuries to key personnel. I will hate it if injuries derail a fourth consecutive OU season.

Here was Jason Arkley's health recap on his blog:

Ohio played without starting right guard Durrell Wood (shoulder), top backup offensive tackle Joe Lowery (groin) and No. 2 quarterback J.D. Sprague (shoulder). None of the three were on the trip.

Quarterback Greg Windham was in Minneapolis and dressed, but did not play. I believe safety Kylan Nelson was on the sideline, but did not play.

Several Bobcats were injured during the course of the game. Starting QB Derrius Vick turned, or sprained, an ankle early in the second quarter and clearly wasn’t the same player in the second half.

“Just tried to battle through it. I wasn’t effective in the run game. I couldn’t really put weight on it. It might of hurt us in that aspect,” Vick said.

Starting OLB Jovon Johnson returned after missing the last two games and last just two plays. He engaged a tight end on a block on the second snap, and crumpled to the turf as it appeared his injured ankle gave way. He was seen walking afterward, but used crutches throughout the remainder of the game on the Ohio sideline.

OLB Chad Moore, according to Solich, broke a thumb at some point during the first half. Moore left the game, got a cast put one, and returned to the field in the second half.

DE Tarell Basham left the game in the fourth quarter after suffering some sort of lower leg injury. He was limping noticeably, and had ice on his knee/calf area.

And finally, it appeared safety Devin Jones injured his right arm/shoulder on Minnesota’s game-winning touchdown with 30 seconds left.

Also, the Bobcats played without starting MLB Quentin Poling in the second half. Poling was sitting out the half because of a suspension, as discipline for an undisclosed violation of team rules and policies.

If Basham is out for most of the season, he should still be able to get a medical hardship, and redshirt this year, but I hope the injury isn't that serious.

My own unprofessional analysis of the Basham injury: As he walked to the sidelines at first he was limping fairly badly but the closer he got to bench the less he was limping and by the time he got there he had virtually no limp at all. From this I would conclude that he had a "stinger" of some sort but probably not a problem with the knee joint itself. This fan-in-the-stand diagnosis is worthy every penny you paid for it. ;-)

I like your price and hope it will prove money well spent.

That sounds a lot better than it could have been. Let's hope the news keeps getting better.

That sounds like a pretty great outcome to me. I was scared it was much worse.

The one thing I'm a little concerned about is Jovon Johnson. He has been "questionable" since Marshall. That is a super-lingering injury.

I've seen crazier things happen.

From what I know (from the cheap seats) high ankle sprains can be lingering, I believe.

Press conference- http://youtu.be/U1f1NbaLuks

I laughed when Solich told Arkley he would have to drag the names out of him when asked about the injuries.

I just saw the game notes and he's not listed as playing.

Wait! What? A suspension served in the 2nd half of the game? Does this mean that the incident occurred at half-time or we thought we'd have the game wrapped up by then? I don't believe I've ever experienced that scenario before.
