Without looking it up, I have this vague feeling that in prior years Ohio commonly started slowly on defense, often giving up points on the first drive, and then settled in later in the game. This pattern is very different. This defense comes ready to play, and takes control in the first quarter. On the negative side, they are giving up more points in the 2d and 4th quarter. Full pedal to the metal and true hurry up to keep the engines revved going into the break--taking the foot off the gas leads directly to third quarter malaise. OR perhaps the coaches have the offense leading the singing of Kumbaya for their half time break. Was it that Ohio came out flat that game? Was it that Vick was out, and the team was adjusting to Sprague? I don't know, but they got things back together after the rain delay in the fourth quarter. Also, the one turnover that Ohio has had that resulted in points for the opposing team was in the third quarter, against Marshall, giving them two more possessions than Ohio had. I'd say Ted is right - it's just a small sample size.
