Just turned on KFAN (100.3) FM here in Minneapolis. One of the first things I heard was the following: "We are playing OHIO, no "state" in there -- just OHIO, but they are undefeated and it won't be a pushover." Thought that this was interesting on at least two levels: 1. Despite what some negative nannies on BA keep saying, our branding is working. 2. We are being treated with respect by the media here. I've also pursued the U of M boards and they are not treating us like a poor sister either. Go OHIO!

Check out article in Friday's Start Tribune. Had much the same flavor. Very respectful of Solich and OU. While at the same time questioning the Gophers offensive capabilities, especially Leidner, the QB.
Kill had a dust up with the press earlier in the week re Leidner and where the team is in week 3, following a virtual "no show" with Akron. Given the somewhat negative attitude prevailing at "the U" (as it is called here), a questionable QB (averaging around 52% completions) , and complete lack of offense against Akron, I think we have a good shot to at least beat the spread and perhaps even more. Having said that, the Gophers are huge on the O line and very well coached by Kill. Our success will depend on our D keeping the points down and establish a running game. This should be a good contest.

I believe you mean Kent State . . . I know those two schools should have merged years ago . . . but that's another story. ;-)

Be careful now. In the last 10 games we're 8 and 2 against Akron but only 5 and 5 against Kent.

Hmm ..title of this thread is a bit misleading. Does anyone expect the media in Minne to be trashing the Bobcats leading up to the game? Better title would be 'Minnesota media views' or such.

Based on recent news releases, I believe it will be the Akron Institute of Technology - Akron-IS-Tech for short. can be found @ ZipFlash.edu

Sorry, I wasn't trying to comment on the quality of the teams, rather the quality of the cities

I talked with many, many fans here both before and after the game, and I didn't run into one that didn't give OHIO great respect. In fact, several brought up the scenario in 2000 where OHIO beats Gophers and Gophers beat OSU. Good folks without the conceit you find in some B1G venues. Too bad you weren't here.

I'd hardly expect people not to respect us in Minne. People there are nice.

Respect is nice. People definitely put on the nice face--espec after they beat you.

You can have respect but barring flagrancy, I'll take MACC and wins.

I just sense that you think that our team is respected, our school is respected, our coaching is respected so all is perfect with the program, despite results.

You are the only one talking perfect. Not me, or anyone else on this board that I've read.
