Not sure why they are ranking him #107 when was 57th in the nation in passer rating last year.

If he can stay healthy then he will finish much, much higher than where this ranking has him.

"Not where you start; but where you finish"!

Seems about right considering Alabama and LSU ranked way down the list too!

The kid from Ball State sounds interesting in his short stint last season.

These kind of rankings have little to no credibility IMO.

My sister, a professional in such matters, would ask, "And how does that make you feel?"

I cannot tell you how meaningless to me their supposed ranking is. Really, if I do think of a way of expressing less concern, I'll let you know.

Vick on leadership. Team seems to move better under him.

I don't see either with overwhelming physical talent. Not sure either can make a tough throw when it will be needed. Both can manage a game well but I'm not sure either can rather single-handedly take us to victory over the course of a whole game.

Perhaps you were in the latrine when Vick hit Cope for their TD. Earlier someone was lamenting about not having a McCrae connection. Well ......

I am with Monroe on this one. I saw several throws that were behind receivers and the receivers made good plays to catch the ball. Had the ball been placed better, we could have gained more yards. I am also not sure how good the Idaho defense was last night. Some of this may work its way out over the next few weeks but I am not too excited about the QB position right now.

Would you stop commenting. It's clear that you'll never make, or allowed to be made, a comment that in any way states or infers that the team is not perfect.

Just freaking go away with your clown irrationality.

Read my posts re last nights game. I'm not the most positive, but I admit that there are two sides. I allow as how we seem clearly better than last year.

You hide behind an alias. You are so 100% always every time totally positive in your posts that it seems rather clear that you are closely tied to the team. State your affiliation and I'll try to not hammer at you.

Otherwise, please stop using these forums as if you were paid by the team.

Again, I ask: If you were paid by the team/school to be 100% positive all the time, would your posts be any different from what they are.

There's no 'discussion' with you; there's only your unrelenting campaign in support.

I'll second this. Can't really judge either QB based off one game in shared playing time over a struggling program. Marshall will be a really good indicator of where both guys are hopefully.

While Idaho's offense was good, their defense was not. Their run defense wasn't bad early in the game, but their pass defense was horrible. Later on they made adjustments to improve the pass defense, but then the run defense was not as good. Yes, it was low hanging fruit, but you've got to pick the low hanging fruit while it's their, and Vick did. He had only 3 incompletions, and most of his passes were not the short variety that Linehan was throwing. He threw some deep balls, some fades, and some crossing routes along with the swing passes, and pretty much completed them all. One incompletion came when he was hit while throwing, and another one he threw away. I don't remember the third one.

I was driving last night so I could only listen to the game on my phone - but it sounded like the TD throw from Sprague was really good throw to the outside with a lot of zip on it -- that the receiver then broke tackles to score. But Russ et all made the throw sound like it was the best pass of the night.

don't know, just translating from the radio broadcast.

Sprague's TD pass had him start right, as if he was running an option play, then he stopped, and threw a soft lob over the center to Heitzman in the deep center of the endzone. Heitzman was covered by a Safety, but not closely, and the lob was over the Safety so that it was an easy, uncontested catch.

The other two TD passes were a fade to Cope, where he made a one-handed grab, and which was featured on Sportscenter, and a soft toss from Vick to Reid, after Vick scrambled out of trouble. Vick's movement froze the CB, allowing Reid to get behind the CB for the easy TD.

All the TD passes were perfectly thrown, right where the receiver could catch them and the defender could not reach them, but none of them had "zip" on them. There are a lot of highlights here, including all three TD passes:

FS teams have been real good when the QB performs real good. However, I tend to believe they think they can get by with QBs that just manage the game with the current 1-2-3-4 QBs.

We'll see if these guys can take us to the promised land but last night was a start...

I think we will all know more after about game 4 or 5.

Sprague's first series was the beginning of the second quarter. From what I saw I think the entire offensive unit was second teamers.
His next series he had the first team offense and moved the team well,

One other observation is that Idaho's defense wasn't a good cohesive unit they did have some outstanding athletes and good speed.

#StickWithVick He's earned right to cement the job or lose it. Don't pull him up 21-0 with all that momentum.... see if he can bury them. I just don't buy Sprague is on par with him.

I went back and watched the highlight of that play to see what the line did. The whole line slid right at the snap instead of blocking downfield. I note that because it was a point of emphasis for referees in the offseason to watch for linemen downfield on jump passes like that.

I hadn't paid attention in the past as to how we have blocked that play (which has been a staple at least since switching to the pistol). I wonder if the slide is new in response to the emphasis in enforcement or if that's how we've always done it.

I think that several people posted that Sprague is faster than Vick.

That may be in a pure foot race.

But I see Vick as noticeably faster in games. This probably comes from his seeming to have a better sense of where players are, of where he should move in order to find running room or room to stand relatively unpressured in the pocket. Vick also seems slicker with fakes--both ball fakes and fakes as to where he appears headed vs. where he's actually going.

All I had was the radio feed through my computer. I remember their call on that play similarly, but, without the bit about the receiver breaking tackles. The broadcaster was giddy over the play. Now I feel misinformed. "How does that make me feel?" Like credit for the play was misplaced. I love it when the players execute, but, whoever drew that play up in the dirt needs credit too.
