UNT athletics gets $46,000 from alcohol concessions during football season

Posting this article as it might be a good proxy for what Ohio Football could earn with alcohol sales. North Texas has a similar attendance and is starting from scratch. It's not clear from the article where the other $46K of net revenue goes.

Excerpt: In six home games, UNT sold 21,438 units of beer for a total gross revenue of $120,000. After expenses, the net revenue was about $92,000, with $46,000 going to UNT athletics.

Easy Math says $5.60 per unit. I m certainly not going to get hammered at almost 6 bucks a brew! Unless it's on a really hot night!

That is a correct allocation across the academic departments.

I assume 28k was spent on the beer (120 of revs, 92 of 'net revenue)--sounds about right...means the 28k of cost of beer was marked up 425% to get to 120k of sales.

But how could they take only 46k of the 92k of profits/net revenue? How is net revenue defined--where'd the other 46k go?

If they had 7 home games, they sold about 3k beers per game.

If we were to start selling beer to the masses, I am curious how they would price it. With the admin's outlook on it now, I would imagine they would intentionally price it steep to keep from mass-consumption even if a lower price point might lead to higher profits.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Right now it's priced at $5.50 in the Rohr Room.

Let's be honest: although UNT may have similar attendance numbers to Ohio, it's in humble opinion that the Bobcats would drink more compared to their counterparts down in Denton. We are talking about Athens ya know.
