Has there been any in-depth articles explaining the trademark dispute between Ohio and Ohio State at any point recently?

I've been reading a rather heated (and somewhat ridiculous) fued in a Facebook group titled "You know you went to OU if" between Ohio University alumni who support Ohio State University and Ohio University alumni who do not support Ohio State University. (yes, this group discussion was essentially just your average bobcatattack tomfoolery)

An older lady stated that she believed that it was mostly younger alumni who did not like Ohio State and that in her day everyone liked Ohio State but hated Miami. I've been on this board long enough to know that not all alumni older than myself have been brainwashed into liking Ohio State. I also know that not all alumni my age or younger have avoided the plague that is the Red and White of Columbus. However, I did find what she said interesting. It seemed to me that there was at least somewhat of a jump in OSU support that could be drawn right around the time of the trademark dispute.

That makes me wonder if there is a significant precentage of pre-dispute Bobcats who simply are not aware of this court battle. I am certain it was covered at length nationally during the case, but that doesn't mean everyone saw it. While the case is not spoken of at great length on campus now, I do believe most students since the case have been exposed to it at least a little bit as to compared to someone who may have moved out of state after graduation and lost track of a random news story about their alma mater.

The reason I ask about any media coverage is that I believe a well-composed story on this issue could gain significant traction on social media among Ohio University alumni of all ages.
It is very hard to find quality information on this court case. The details seem pretty vague for something officially on the record. I have got to think one of our journalism students or alumni has written a quality piece on the matter, right?

I've seen crazier things happen.

The most recent article I have archived is from The Post, Friday, April 30, 1999. Speakeasy also had a great article that I have saved as a text file from September 15th of 2010, "Five Reasons Every Ohio Student Should Root Against Ohio State" that was shortly before our game with them, but I have no record of anything more recent.

And for the record, I hate tOSU, and Ricordati and Torgerson are DB's.

No. But, I'm glad to hear there is still a group of Ohio alums/students who at least argue with OSU people about it.

Not sure what that one alum meant by "old". But, I will tell you that I set foot on campus in the late 1980s and just about every student I knew had OSU gear and worshipped OSU football and really didn't understand my bewilderment at this. And most of the guys I still know from back then still don't get it.

It seems to have changed a lot in the last 10-12 years however.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

I checked it out this morning, and boy, I think that some of that stuff has gotten pretty aggressive. We here look tame relatively speaking. Funny stuff in many instances for sure, lots of hurt feelings from others who are just now starting to understand that there are many OHIO alumni that have very strong, anti State sentiments.

You will notice that there are only a very vocal few though. I would peg the group's membership as 25% anti-OSU and 65% pro-OSU and then there is probably a 10% neutral for those like me that have issues with some OSU stuff but are still secondary OSU fans.

Funny you should bring this up. I'm one of the troublemaker on that Facebook page, and today I was thinking of posting a plug for Bobcatattack.com there. It's been interesting there to say the least. I have been having a hard time following my own advice: "Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience."
