Maybe I'm missing something, but, is he really the best Florida can get? Mushcamp couldn't possibly have cleared out his office already - this just seems really fast to me considering who is involved.

On a related note: Bravo to Colorado State for not budging on the 7.5 million buyout.

Yes, this does seem fast.

Also, contrast what Florida is on the hook for financially against the recent folding of the UAB football program.

$8M owed to Muschamp and staff
$7.5M to cover buyout clause
$?M for his new contract

McElwain is a pretty damn good choice if you ask me. He turned Colorado State around in only three years and was the OC under Saban at Alabama when they won two national titles and had a combined record of 39-3. What's not to like?

It was rumored last week that Florida was going to pitch Chip Kelley, it feels like a big disparity in the 'wow factor' department. It just seems odd that they look this desperate to hire the guy when most people couldn't pick him out of a line up 3 days ago.

I think the Kelly thing was more Florida fans wanting a big hire than the AD actually trying to hire him. Why would he leave the Eagles for college ball again? Especially with as well as they are playing?

I get what you're saying, but the results speak for themselves and the guy knows the SEC. Florida should be immediately better offensively and getting a good DC shouldn't be hard. It will be interesting to see where Muschamp ends up. Lost in all the hoopla of how bad his offenses were, his defenses were pretty good.

If Florida wanted McElwain, they probably had to move fast. It seems like every time I turned the radio on this week his name came up as one of the best guys for the Nebraska job. The other names that I seem to hear a lot are Tressel, Fleck, Scott Frost (OC at Oregon), Patterson at TCU and David Shaw from Stanford, plus occasional mentions of Rich-Rod. There are multiple schools out looking, so I presume others on this list are getting looks from multiple schools.

Let's start a Tressel to Michigan rumor.

Watch the fireworks ensue.

Scott Frost gets my vote.

Scott Frost to Michigan would be an incredible plot twist. The QB who directed Nebraska to a share of the 1997 National Championship at Nebraska now the head coach of the team that they shared the Championship with in Michigan. That would also make Michigan fans' heads explode.

An honest question: Does any one seriously think that JT is actually interested in a coaching position at this point? Don't you think he kind of likes the president gig at YSU?
