Toledo can more or less clinch the West Division tonight with a win over NIU. The Rockets have already beaten WMU, but the Broncos are hoping for NIU to pull this one out. NIU has to go to WMU in the last week of the season.

No snow in the forecast but should be plenty cold up in DeKalb.

Who ya got??????

Toledo may be down to their 3rd string QB tonight. Their future NFL center is also banged up, but cleared to play. They'll have to dig deep for this game. Those are big question marks on offense.

I'll still pick Toledo though.

Is it just me or does the prospect of this OHIO team playing an 8-2 NIU team at home (if they win tonight) after a week off really exciting?

I mean this OHIO team from all accounts appears as healthy as they've been, and hungry to flip the script on the season. There wouldn't be a more beatable 8 win team in the country to play.

Agreed . . . that's why I'm rooting for NIU tonight. And, the fact that I always prefer to play a team that's coming off a win rather than a loss. They are usually a little less hungry and can become a little more complacent.

Just thinking that one advantage EMU has over the rest of the league is they don't have to worry about ever hosting a midweek MACtion game, so they won't lose all that attendance. ;)

If Woodside doesn't go Toledo's QB options are a third stringer who hasn't started and a WR who was converted from QB (shades of Tom Matte). Even if Woodside can go, he won't be as mobile. I like NIU's chances.

An NIU win would really muddy up the MAC West race whereas a Toledo win would probably mean smooth sailing for the Rockets. The Rockets own tiebreakers over CMU, WMU, and BSU (are the Cardinals mathematically eliminated yet? One more loss or one more Toledo win definitely would eliminate BSU). Toledo could then afford to lose to BG before a season-ending tilt with EMU. An NIU win could potentially set up a winner-take-all game to end the season between NIU and WMU (Toledo would have to lose to either BG or EMU for this to happen).

Meanwhile in the East, the title is BG's to lose. One more win clinches, and with home games remaining against Kent and BSU, it looks likely that BG will make it to Detroit. Ohio needs to win out and have BG lose out. Akron needs to win out, BG to lose out, and Ohio to lose one game. Miami, somehow, might still be alive. They would need to win out, BG to lose out, and then they go to secondary tie-breakers (sorry, don't know what those are) as they did not play each other this year.

Toledo's 4'th string QB (who is really a kick returner and WR) looks better than any QB on our roster. Sigh....

My take is that if NIU would have lost this game , they would have been demoralized, really with nothing to play for against Ohio. I would have preferred that they would have lost against Toledo. I still give us a fighters chance against these guys if we play as well as we did last week.

Yeah I'd prefer the demoralized NIU. They control their road to the MACC. They're going to bring it against OHIO. Regardless, I still think there's a good chance this OHIO team can take NIU's best shot.

The only teams still alive in the East are BG (almost a sure thing), Ohio, and U.Mass.

Surely the reality deniers are not giving up on us winning the MAC East now.
